Hello,

I recently came across a 29-2 with a serial number of N22xxx. It is nickel and appears to have original grips. I would consider it to be 98%. It has the original box but missing all the tools. I am looking for a rough value and any information, or where I could locate information on the early years of production. I have spent the last two days researching this and most of the information i come across is for all higher serial number guns.

I have a 29-2 with a serial number quite close to the one you posted that was shipped in October 1972. It has a nickel finish and a 6 1/2-inch barrel. The lining on the interior of these case deteriorated rapidly and have to be redone in order to put the 44 in the case. I would value your package (as described) at around $1200.

thank you and yes the lining has deteriorated and just the styrofoam is left. Thank you bill

Mike we have a member of this forum that can fix the liners in your case if you want it done. He does excellent work and has done one for me.
I can't remember his name or contact info at the moment but someone will be along shortly to refresh my memory.

Mike,

Start by investing in a copy of Blue Book of Gun Values. Keep in mind the values given are best regarded as comparative, not absolute; book values always lag behind the current market. Gunbroker.com is a great place to find out what guns are actually selling for right now 'cos people there are actually sellin' em--right now. My obs have been that nickel commands a lesser price than blued, all else being equal. BTW, this is not an "early years of production" gun. SCSW dates N2xxxxx serials from 1974-1977; Dirty Harry was already 2 sequels in by then...

Thank you all for the information. This is my first rev. I have been a 1911 guy my whole life and figured I would try something different.

I purchased a never fired 29-2 6-1/2" Nicole plated revolver with original box papers and original purchase receipt last month for $950 on gun broker.
