I am going to look at a Model 29-2, 6.5", serial puts it to 1976, wooden box, screwdriver and cleaning kit, all claimed to be in 'like new' condition.

What is such a rig selling for these days? SCSW suggest $700, is that current?

My personal limit on N prefix guns in the condition you describe is $750-800 and I am frugal (read cheap) so that's about right.

Mine was NIB, 1981, 29-2, Walnut box, cleaning rod, brass brush, cotton tip swab, and screwdriver for around $800. Grips have month and date stamped in blue ink inside right panel, Walnut Box has same month and date stamped inside the lining, serial number is N 8627XX.

Anyone will pay 700.00 in CA. for any minty model 29-2 with or W/O a box. My rule of thumb is that ANY pre -lock working model 29 in decent shape is worth 500.00 ALL DAY LONG. It only goes up from there. I paid 700.00 TOTAL , for an unfired and properly stored 1976 N series four inch model 29-2 with presentation case. I felt like I was getting almost for free.
