I just found this magazine in a non-gun box with non-gun stuff.

I would like to sell it but have no idea what its fair market value would be.

The magazine plate is definitely stainless not nickel.

As I was just now placing it on a shelf with a several other blue M39 mags I noticed the bottom plate is shorter than the blue ones. The mag fits and functions fine in my M39.

So It may well not be a M39 mag but one of the 2nd or 3rd Generations M39 pistols.

Anyway, I still would like to know the value of it.

Hello Marty, the base plate should measure 1.5" long. The body looks like blue steel with a plastic follower. I have one just like it in my 39-2 out in the shop. Bought it at a local show, and have not a clue what it came with from the factory. But for $20 I rolled the dice. Several flawless boxes of ammo thru it. Mike

My guess is that someone stuck a stainless floorplate on an otherwise standard 39 or 439/539 magazine. The magazines for the 639 were all stainless or at least silver in color and 8 round capacity. The very very first magazines for the 3906 were similar, also 8 round but with a new plastic floor plate. These were only for a short moment in time before the follower was upgraded and they added a witness hole to the side and upped the capacity to 9 rounds.

In my opinion, you have a serviceable magazine but it's pieced together.

HOWEVER! with that said, there was a run of commemorative two-tone 39's for... hmmm, was it Connecticut State Police? I suppose the possibility exists that this mixed color magazine was put together for those? Seems unlikely but never say never.

I believe you have a solid, working magazine but nothing of crazy value/rarity, seems like a $40 item to me.

Looks exactly like the one that came with my 39-2 but I don't know the age of the gun. Base plate is stainless and the follower is plastic.

Update info on the magazine in question

Thanks to everyone who responded to my question.

I had never seen a M39 mag with a stainless base plate.

Anyway, I have 2 model 39-2's which I am getting ready to sell and I wanted to know what I actually had in reference to the magazines.

Attached is a photo of the 3 types of magazines I have. The aftermarket ones have a longer base plate than the factory one.

I'm going to go with the opinion that it's a Model 39 Mag body with a Mod 639 floor plate added. Walter in my book would be as a shooter.
