I have a PC 5906 PPC in good shape with original case and test target just wanted to know about what it is worth? It is not in my books and not many out there on the web. Serial # was digitally altered by me in the photo. Thanks.

A certain value is tough to nail down. These don’t trade often but usually on Gunbroker when they do. When the auction is hosted by a well known and successful high feedback consignment seller then absolute low end is probably around $4,000. Top end is the wild card.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see it sell for $6000 if it’s in high condition and a couple bidders got energetic. Record high that I have seen was twice that, but a ludicrous anomaly.

That list is of course totally correct for 5” examples. One of those is now mine and it wasn’t the high priced one.

“hberttmank’s” example is a 6” one and a total different beast. I won’t speculate on the lack of a mag well because I’ve been totally wrong in my assumptions regarding these superlative, high end and never again to be duplicated 9mm PC’s.

I agree with “Seven’s” input regarding the potential realized price. It should be professionally displayed and represented fully if/when it ever was offered for sale or at auction.

Nice PPC9 to say the least.

Thanks for the info guys. I knew it was a rare bird, didn't know it was worth a bunch.

Every one I have seen has come with the mag well. Do you have it? They are extremely difficult to find and I expect that if sold without it would significantly affect the price. I am thinking at least $500 off what it would normally sell for. And I think the collectors who want to pay multiple thousands of dollars for these would move on from a gun without that significant hard to find part. But hey I could be wrong. It will shoot just as good without it.

No I don't have the mag well. I have the original case with all the paper work and on the fired case envelope is taped a recoil spring and two allen wrenches for adjusting the rear sight. How was the mag well attached?

When the guns first came out circa 1996, NRA PPC rules forbid the mag well. So, many were removed. I removed both of mine. (But I still have them in original box). (Both 5” and 6”! And, a 5906 DPA 4”!).

They are pinned on. No major surgery to replace.
I use the arched grips, so they look funky with arched grips AND mag well.

The mag well fits between the grip and the pistol’s frame and is held in place with the grip pin. It is a tight and secure system.

I didn’t notice how funky the arched grip looks paired with the mag well it but it probably does. I also prefer the arched options and use them on some. I don’t mind the look of the combo because it feels right to me.

Thanks for the info guys. Did the guns with the mag well have mags with a thicker base plate? The only mag that came with my gun is just a standard 5906 mag.

Yes they came with extra thick base plates. Each gun would have ahead at least two mags with those base plates. They are very hard to find. Not having the correct mags also devalues the pistol. Some collectors would pass this up without those.

Yes and no.

Regardless it’s a 6” and seemingly in great condition. With box and stuff. Personally I think it’s a high value pistol but that’s just me.

The bases are obtainable, (thanks again guzzitaco for two,) here and other places. I actually had two mags with the bases years ago for no real reason back then.

“We” are assuming that “hberttmank’s” PPC example originally was delivered with a mag well, thus requiring those base plates.

I just assumed that all of them were originally delivered with the single side wide safety which has now been disproved. I was frantically trying to find a single side extended safety for the one I got from you. I really didn’t care otherwise about the stainless ambi, (not original ?) that was on it and was committed to getting it. I’m really happy with it and I thank you again but I don’t think that replacing the stainless ambi was an important issue even though I did. At least at some time the “new” guy/gal owner can decide which one they want and the value will be what it is regardless.

I 100% agree the OP’s 6 inch gun is a high value pistol. I would be proud to own it. I am sure it is worth several thousand dollars in today’s market. My point in some of my posts here is that it appears that the really deep pocket bidders pay for guns in 100% original condition and as nice as possible. So there might be a couple of people who would normally push that gun to $6000 or more dollars who stay out of the bidding and it might go closer to $4000 without the mag well and appropriate magazines. But I have been wrong about lots of stuff so who knows?

PPC 9MM

Value can be anywhere over $2500 to $ 3000. Originally sold to
LAW Enforcement for Police Nationals .

LE price was $1200 to $1400. Not sold to Distributors. These are
rare 1" group pistols, totally hand made . The Performance Center would only make 20-30 per month of these.

Hard to come by, they hold most PPC National Records. Shot by
Phil Hemphill, John Pride, Clay Tippett, all the top shooters.

Your number is correct for 5 inch models. Add a grand or more for 6 inch models. Wild card is the “missing” mag well and “incorrect” magazines.
