I've never owned a 586, and having a soft spot for nickel, wondering what should I expect to pay for a 6" nickel shooter 586...box not important to me, but nice targets and nice hammer/trigger, no flaking on finish....already passed a rough 4"..that was pre covid....are we talking $750 or more? dont see many......just a passing question for opinions

Not sure what they are going for now, but I paid 850 for a 4 inch a couple of years ago and 750 about 5 years ago for a 6 with box and all docs. They are unusual, not necessarily rare but I would consider them uncommon. So, I am betting they are north of 750 now.

A nice Nickel finish usually bumps the price up on most revolvers and more so on the model 586’s since they didn’t make all that many. I’d say if you can snag it for $950 or less you’d be doing well.

Nickel certainly helps the value. For a shooter grade in good to very good condition, for me $850 would be the max, but different areas of the country have different values for them. Good luck.

A Nickel 586 is a rare bird. They just didn’t make a lot of them. So if you see one you like, and the price is reasonable to you, snag it.

Pre-Lock 586’s have been climbing steadily in value over the past few years.

I truly believe they are the best offering S&W has ever had. They are the perfect fighting revolver.

I would love to own one in Nickel for sure.

Factory nickel plated L-frames are few and far between. No box and docs means less $$, but if it is in really good condition, anywhere under $1000 would be good in today's inflationary market.

I've got a 4" Nickel, TT,TH, RR,WO, early gun with AAB prefix and it's a no dash, no mod. Original box, all items in box, with invoice from dealer/distributor. Not NIB, but ANIB since its been fired. I'm thinking it a $1,000-1,200 gun. I could be wrong.

I was going the show off my 6" nickel 586 (no dash no M) target trigger/hammer and factory target Goncalo Alves grips..but I'll be damned if I can find it. Hmm. I would not part with mine for under $1.2k and even then I'd hesitate...especially since it's hiding... :). They are a wonderful revolver.

There are a few for sale now at GB, starting at $850. There is one which is a GOAL (Gun Owners Action League in MA) limited edition revolver for $999. They go up from there. Some have a 4" bbl and some have a 6" bbl. In

Apparently yours is a great 'concealed' weapon. :D

I have this one now. It was ex LEO revolver when local SD transitioned to autos my MIL was a dispatcher. She bought it thinking her husband would like it but he wasn't interested in handguns. Long story short I acquired it about 10 years ago. I now have a matching blue 4" on the way. It will make a nice pair.
