My grandmother gave this gun too me I’m guessing it was my grandpas and I’m just wondering how much it’s worth it’s a model 37 cleaned it up as much as I could seems old no papers or nothing just curious I would never carry it I like my shield too much

A 37 flat-latch 37 in fair condition is worth less than $450 but at least $300. It’s one of those guns that would require an examination to give an exact estimate

The Chiefs Special Airweight, Model 37, has been in production for more than half a century.

There is a very large quantity that have been sold

In condition like yours, I would be surprised if the offers hit the $300 mark even though that is mostly cosmetic.

The firearm does not look like is has been fired very much

You have a nice remembrance of your grandfather there.

Go out and buy a couple of boxes of 38 Special ammunition and enjoy it.

Check to be sure the frame is not cracked where the barrel screws into the frame.

Did you open the cylinder and look on the frame where the barrel attaches.

If it was mine I would probably spend 85 bucks and have it ceracoted and the gun would then look about as good as brand new.

Agreed, a common military (originally Air Force) gun, the original "patina" does not add value in this case, and exposed metal on a blue gun is to be avoided. My aunt uses one for her "ranch gun".

attn OP

I would restrict the gun to standard velocity/pressure ammunition, no +P. 130gr range ball ammo or 158gr lead round nose "service" ammo should do fine.
