Need a little help. I am trying to come up with values on a Model 57 6" nickle no dash 95% no box original grips and a 19-5 matte blue 2.5 in. about 90-95 %. Thanks.

It depends on how you are selling/buying them (private party vs. dealer) and your local market, but I would guess about $550 for the 57 and $425 for the 19 as described. Hope this is helpful.

I will be selling them to a private party.Maybe. Hurts my feelings a little to think about it. Thanks for the info.

In my experience, gun prices have a lot of variables involved, and tend to be regionalized. You have two guns that have a lot of appeal to certain people. I have never met an unhappy/dissatisfied .41 Magnum owner. The Model 19/66 with the 2.5 inch barrel is a popular gun with a desirable barrel length, probably second in popularity to the 3.0 inch barrel. Condition is, of course a huge factor. As you describe the guns, in the Central Texas (Austin) area, you could probably get $550.00 - $600.00 each from a private sale (non-commercial).

Best of luck,

Dave

The snubbie 19 is very sought after. Here's my track on the model:

Smith & Wesson 19 2-1/2 inch barrel. Revolver in .357 Magnum,.38 Special, Plus P. Bluebook of Gun Values (33nd Edition) indicates between $325 in 95% condition and $550 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 63 recorded prices for this model gun from $395 to $995 over a period of 2 Yrs 11 Mos ending March 4, 2013. The average price as of that date was $566. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for import location or engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $457.

The Average Price Trend is pretty clear: somewhere near $630 as of March 2013.

Better examples of the model would command higher prices, especially with box, papers, tools, etc.

Here's mine, a 19-5, it's in terrific shape and very accurate:
