Very Sad News

We lost a long time fighter for our gun rights and the Second Amendment this past Friday. My friend, Richard Metcalf, passed away from a heart attack. Dick had fought Parkinsons for the last several years. He was one of five founding members of our very successful gun club, PASA, which hosted and originated The MASTERS SHOOTING TOURNMENT. While Dick and I had our disagreements from time to time we always respected each other and continued to work together to protect our freedoms. Dick caught a lot of flack from an article that his editors at Shooting Times told him he had to write and subsequently ended up leaving the Staff of Shooting Times. Dick was also an Army NCO and never stopped being a strong supporter of our Military and first responders and made our range available for training whenever needed. According to the information that I have, there will be no service or memorial at this time. We all can honor and remember him by continuing to fight the *******s that would destroy our Constitution and our great Nation.

That is very sad, he was certainly a legend in the print media of his day.

RIP Dick Metcalf

Just received work that Dick Metcalf passed away over the weekend. An outstanding writer for Shooting Times and other various magazines about shooting sports and hunting.

He will be missed by many.

But then he messed up big time and wrote an article supporting regulating firearms. Guns & Ammo fired him and much of the gun world turned their backs on him. Sad ending for a good writer.

I remember that, about 10 years back. Sometimes people forget which side their bread is buttered on and do or say dumb things without thoroughly considering possible negative consequences. Remember The Dixie Chicks and Bud Light? It wasn't a really big deal, but more than enough to inflame many of his audience.

Grayfox & DWalt, Dick got screwed by the Editor, he was told to write that article about getting training. He left as a result of the Magazine's action after the uproar over it. While he no longer was publishing articles, he continued to be a very knowledgeable consultant to many of the most popular companys and suppliers in the industry. As I said in my original post , we did not always agree but we always respected each other and worked together to defend our 2nd amendment. He will be and is missed. That is sad news. He was one of my very favorite gun writers back when I read all the mags. He seemed to be a Smith fan and reviewed and wrote about many of them over the years. I may not have agreed with what he said at the end of his career, but i sure enjoyed his articles.
