If you are a veteran there may be a reason why you can’t pass a background check.

If you gave power of attorney to someone, even your spouse, while you were deployed overseas then your name may be in the NISC database.

Why? The reasoning is if you had someone manage your personal affairs, even though you were not able to do so because of your deployment, then you are deemed mentally incompetent and your name is put into the NICS database.

you have to wonder what moron came up with this idea...I would bet they never served in the military...I miss the days when if your DD214 said HONORABLE in the right place you were good to go on almost anything...these idiots have to keep thinking up categories for the data bases to put things in never thinking before they do it...ok rant over...:(

Makes me wonder some times if our legislators don't think things out when they do something or if they over think things.

In my personal life I always made sure that by solving a problem I didn't cause another one.If foresight was made a prerequisite in legislation making then hindsight wouldn't be necessary.

So, I'm no lawyer, but how does the government, or anyone other the parties concerned, know when anyone has executed a power of attorney?

And what type of "power or attorney" are we talking about? A general power of attorney, or a limited power of attorney?

Does this also cover advanced directives, where you give someone the power to decide what medical procedures you do or do not want preformed on you (commonly called pulling the plug)?

A will only comes into effect once you have died, and a power of attorney is only used when you are not around to make a decision.

I think I may have to throw the BS flag on this one.

It's not a dumb person that came up with this law blocking vets from passing a background check. It's a cold and calculated move.

Think about it... If you are trying to to create on overbearing government who would you fear most?

Sure this doesn't stop or make it illegal for a vet to own a gun but it sure makes it hard for them to legally acquire one.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Ms.Feinstein at least attempt to introduce a bill that would stop all Vets from owning firearms upon their return?

They can't destroy the 2nd Amendment itself so instead they're trying to deny the citizenry their rights by finding excuses to deny ownership.

Yes she said something to the effect that all vets are crazy/mentally disabled.

Mrs. KALIFORNIA!

Not a great topic for us but she is a classic example of an elected official benefiting financially from the elected position, my understanding is that her husband's Real Estate Company is charged with the responsibility of liquidating all the former US Post Office buildings and associated land at a very nice profit to their personal accounts. This could be a rumor but it surely sounds right to me and of course I've been told that they do own guns just do not want anyone else to have the same ability. May be she is the one who needs to be evaluated and investigated. Oh, that's right, they pass the laws but are not governed by them.

Maybe we should take a page from Robert Heinlein's novel Starship Troopers and only allow those who have served in the military be eligible to be elected to public office.

I started thinking about Heinlein as I was reading and scrolling down. More people should read this book. If I was in charge of developing a high school reading curriculum, this book would replace ,"Catcher in the Rye."

She self admitted to owning two revolvers one she carries in her purse plus also stated she would use it to save her self even if it resulted in the bgs death. I dont remember where I saw that interview? possibly shown on the Sean Hannity show????????

Good for another 3 years!

Like most of us these days I'm very concerned about the future of our constitution in general and the 2A in particular. But I feel good because I renewed my NRA membership for another 3 years this morning including the extra 5 bux they asked for for media. I know lots of us are NRA members but there are a lot that are not.

As citizens there is not a whole lot that we can do individually to help protect our rights and the NRA is the best and strongest and most effective advocate we have. I emplore allo non members to consider joining. I know they are not perfect and sometimes get too aggressive in there quest for money but if we don't keep them going and loose our 2A rights none of the petty problems will make a lot of difference.

Lets stick together and keep America free.

Look no further than DiFi, she made comments about vets and PTSD and guns.

I still can remember way back when I was in the Corps and when I deployed I left a General Power of Attorney for my wife. To the best of my knowledge and memory the only record was that my wife had the original POA and no other copies were made. So, how does the government know about it? Something just smell right...

Just another form of backdoor gun control- any excuse will do to keep guns away from honest people. Its enough to make you puke--

I'd have to see this reported by a reliable source, as I know many who gave PoAs to the wife--myself included--to handle any affairs that might come up in our absence, and I can pass any background check in a heartbeat.

I'm not completely buying this, either. It isn't like PoAs are turned in somewhere. Not to say that the anti-freedom types wouldn't try this, but I just don't think they've figured out "how" yet.

I'm not buying it either. My son filled out a POA when he joined the Navy. It was to be used when he was out of the country or away from home and he could not be reached, important decisions had to be made, etc.

Three years ago he got his CPL no problem. In fact it only took about 1 week to get.

McCain...

I thought McCain was a military vet...If that is the case then Fienstien is correct...all vets are crazy and should not own firearms...effin idiots!

My question is how long has our government been run by the communists?
