Victory 22... again!

Howdy folks. Been browsing here for a week or so. Nice, lots of useful information.

My son and I are brand new shooters and we both purchased a S&W Victory 22. Really like one of them, mine fortunately, the other one not so much. They both had the FTE problem that some of these pistols are known for. I tweaked the ejector on mine, as I saw on here and Youtube, and it now performs flawlessly. I've put about 300 rounds thru it, and this is the cheap Remington "bucket of bullets" stuff and only had 1 stovepipe. My son's on the other hand, isn't quite so nice to shoot. Every 3 or 4 rounds it has a FTE. We had a range session today and we mixed and matched barrels, bolts, and lowers. We determined the problem is with his receiver. Everything else works flawlessly. Going to attempt the ejector modification on it, thought I moved it but I'm guessing not enough. And, today when were doing another takedown, THIS happened. We repaired this problem and got the threaded insert back in, but didn't have time to tweak the ejector.

I have not had any issues with mine. Eats all types of ammo. No FTE's that I can remember. Will be shooting again tonite at the range if no rain.

First I have heard about the problem. Contact S&W and they will take care of it.

I've been doing allot of research on these ( in preparation for buying my own.). Seems FTE issues are not uncommon nor hard to fix. Take down screw issues are well known but your's seems unique. I'd vote:Send it back. Sounds like you have multiple issues. This is a new gun, it should be perfect out of the box. S&W will make it right. Turn around times seem pretty good right now too.

Yes, the FTE issue was easy to fix on mine, but not on my sons for some reason. As for the take down screw, ours both look to have been treated with some type of thread locker.. I'm guessing it's Vibratite or something similar due to it being reusable. The threaded insert caught us completely by surprise tho... did not expect that to come out. It might very well come to it being sent back for repair, but I'm a bit stuborn and not ready to give up on it yet.

I agree 100% on this. I've been to the range about a dozen times.. which of course DOES NOT make me an experienced shooter by any stretch of the imagination. The repairs have been attempted with a friend of mine who is a very experienced shooter so I was confident in attempting this with his help. This one might be going back for warranty.

Sammalome Welcome to the Forum from your own area. Don't give up on this gun and maybe even try a different brand of ammo thru it. I highly recommend CCI SV for any model of 22 made by smith.. If you ever do have problems with the takedown screw put a No.61 O-ring om it and then re-install the screw. Home Hardware sells them quite cheaply and they seem to last forever. They are a great shooter once you get the small adjustments dome right. Those Golden Rem bullets are very dirty to shoot also which will make your problem only worse.

Ran about 100 rounds thru the Victory this evening before it started raining and thundering!!! Ran flawlessly. Was siting in a red dot. I shot some CCI as well as some old Thunderbolt (not sure grain loading or velocity) ammo. No FTE's. I am a happy camper.

I put about 200 rounds through mine the first time out with 1 stove pipe. It worked with all types of ammo, including sub-sonic. I did clean it before I shot it and add a touch of oil to the slide. With all 22's, cleanliness is a necessity.

Plinker37 Welcome to the Forum. Sammalone you might wish to try the No.61 O-Ring trick if you have problems with the take down on your barrel. It has helped a lot of other Victory pistols on here.

I have bought a new Victory 22 since my last post. It has maybe 400 rounds in 3 range sessions now with no failures and/or issues of any kind. Ammo was CCI mini mags and Federal Auto match. Runs like a clock!

p.s. The new production guns come with a screw that has a patch of thread lock on it. Mine comes apart when I want, and doesn't when I do't. Problem solved. Personally, if I had an older one, I'd call S&W for a new screw vs a band aide fix.

I am frustrated with a new (new to me - is used) SW22 Victory I bought TUE at BUD's in Sevierville. Good deal price wise at $249 with 5 Mags (all have the TANDEMKROSS extension), and a "T" Trigger, and a "T" Halo , don't know about the Hammer (if it is or isn't a "T").

I broke it down TUE and cleaned it up and lubricated it. It looked to be in good shape.

I shot it WED or tried to shoot it with all the Failures to Eject (say from 3 to 5 per MAG, did get some MAGS to run 7 and one actually did 10). Many, many, many FTE with all types of AMMO (CCI MINI MAG, CCI Blazer Brass, Aquilla High Velocity, Remington Golden).

Finding out about all the ejection problems and THE FIX (bend the ejector).

WHAT I CAN'T find is How To Bend The Ejector. And, to bend it IN to center of gun or Bend it OUT away from center. Seems that might be a choice depending on how the ejector fits.

ALSO, see TANDEMKROSS has after market ejector and a .PDF procedure on how to change it.

I would surely appreciate a more detailed discussion on the Bend Method (exactly how to bend the ejector).

PS: other than the eject problems (I kept clearing and shooting for nearly an hour). I like the trigger pull, the accuracy including the sight picture. Sight picture is always a bit of a problem for me (Bifocals). Probably be nice to have some special shooting prescription glasses to make sight picture better.

I would suggest bending the extractor towards the center of the gun a wee bit. If it gets worse then bend it the other way, outward towards the Left side of the gun. One way or the other you will find its exact location.

When I bought my Victory last year, I was having FTE problems with it also. I simply followed the procedure that 627Pro has linked above and no problems at all since then. It is very tolerant of most any ammo I have thrown at it and it does shoot accurately too. I guess I have between 1500-2000 rounds through mine now and no other problems run into since I did the extractor adjustment.

Took my victory to the range today first time. Put approx. 350 rounds thru it and not one issue. The Remington Thunderbolt ejected farther than the Federal automatch. By about 3 feet. Thought that was a bit odd but still no issues. Really shoots decent for a little 22. Just my 2 cents worth wish all owners the best with there.
