Victory Model Marking, Help Needed

If anyone knows for sure, it's Ordnanceman. He's the resident Victory Model expert.

The broad arrow indicated acceptance/ownership of Great Britain and the Commonwealth.

The British War Department's was W/|\D.

The U with the /|\ inside was Union of South Africa.

See last picture for more.

Some nice sharp shouldered Magnas there......Ben
Not sharp shoulders, post-1952. I do not know the meaning of the AF on either side of the broad arrow. Could be almost anything or organization having those initials. Might well be something like Australian Forces, but I do not know that. It definitely indicates the item was Crown Property. Most Australian broadhead initials were DD for Department of Defence.

I'd remark that as a mid-war produced "Victory" Model, it ought to have actually been procured by U.S. Army Ordnance and then furnished to Great Britain (or an associated Commonwealth) under the terms of the Lend Lease Program. Such were thus marked "United States Property" on the top strap. Is yours so marked?

Found it on p.109 of Charlie Pate's book "U.S. Handguns of World War II--The Secondary Pistols and Revolvers."

It says...

"Many Australian arms have been noted with the Broad Arrow having various letters on one or both sides of the arrow, for example - "A (arrow) F" or "D (arrow)" or "D (arrow) D". Variations are also reported having the D over the Broad Arrow and the Broad Arrow within a D. The "A (arrow) F" has been reported to be the property mark of the Royal Australian Air Force; however, other credible sources state this mark is simply another variation also meaning Australian Forces."

Victory

Thanks for all the help. There are no other marks on the gun, just the A ^ F marking.
