Brought a gun in for repair.

Shelves were rather empty, with no "tactical" guns in 5.56 or 12 gauge anywhere to be seen. Manager told me they did a robust business earlier in the Covid pandemic, but now there is nothing coming in.

More of the same in my range's Pro Shop/LGS. 3 longarms and perhaps 20 handguns. The only ammo in any quantity was (drum roll :D) .32 S&W (!) and .32 S&W Long. Seems someone ordered these for his old S&W wheelguns including a top break, and then failed to return to pick them up. And to buy them...

There are usually 20 or so used handguns in the consignment case, mostly heavily used SAs, with the exception of a minty LNIB nickel 4.75" Colt SAA in .45LC that the owner prices at $2500, plus accessories. It is exquisite. I'd be tempted were it not for the UBC required in NV on what is essentially a private sale.

1000 round cases of FMJ ammo are sold out and never last long when in stock. There WERE, however, two 10-round packs of 12 gauge 3" Magnum 00 Buck, since sold. Bet the buyer had a real shock touching those off. Be safe, everyone.

At the risk of being redundant, those of us who were around following the Sandy Hook tragedy have seen all this before. It took years for things to return to normal with regards to guns & ammo. The way things are these days, I'm not sure if we'll ever return to the way things used to be. Don't know about anyone else, but the idea of the "new normal" scares the blank out of me.

The problem is two fold. 1. Lots of new gun buyers and subsequent ammo sales. 2. Inability for factories to manufacture or produce up to norm's due to Covid19 keeping staffing down or in some cases the producers closed.

Until everyone actually abides by the "rules" and takes it serious this might not change. I'm looking well into next year, or whenever a vaccine is proven and produced.

I went to a local LGS today and most everyone there was getting transfers done. It was mostly online sales, although there was a guy doing a private sale.

I haven't frequented an LGS for a while, but did visit an online seller's website and got a shock. A 1000 rounds of Winchester 124gr 9mm that is inbound (September delivery) had been listed at just shy of $230 on my first visit, on the second visit the price jumped $50!

A shipment of CCI Black Label 9s that was supposed to be arriving in August and then again in October has been removed from sale. About the only FMJ bullets that seem to be available in bulk are 40s, and forget any bulk JHPs! I'm just hoping that the supply of wheel weights doesn't dry up!

Sounds like that “useless ol’ .40 “ is going to do it again

I went to local Cabela's last Thursday. No handguns in the Library. A few used handguns at the end of the new gun case. Reasonable selection of new guns in the case, both revolvers and semi-autos. Virtually no long guns. And ZERO handgun ammo.

Only 1 guy working behind the counter and a line of customers waiting for their number to get called. Multiple employees going in and out of the door behind the counter, none of which gave the line of customers any heed.

I was interested in looking at one of the used S&W revolvers (appeared to be a 4" Model 10 priced at $399). I waited for 45 minutes and the counter guy was still working with the first customer.

Finally gave up and left with many disgruntled customers still waiting in line. Gave my number to the guy behind me....at least he could move up by one in the queue.

I’m appalled at the lack of customer service. It’ll be a cold day before I darken the doors of this Cabelas again!!

I learned from the first "Shortage" that its better not to limit your arsenal to just a few calibers.
If one is fortunate to have firearms in different calibers, when you find ammo for sale, chances are that you have some that this ammo fits

I'll bet the one store I was in thought they would never sell their 2 boxes of 7.62 Nagant I ended up with.

The cupboards are bare here in the big stores, the good LGS' saw it coming and stack my ammo on the counter as I walk in. Gun selection is still sparse. I probably have to wait for a gun show to get 7.62 x 54R (Nagant) though. 22LR is still plentiful. I understand that the gun factories were hit with Covid and production has dropped, combined with all the new gun owners buying everything in sight, well the pickings are thin, but maybe since I have been reading this forum for 19 years - I have mine.

Went to Sportmans Warehouse last night, lots of guns...even a couple $1300 Black Rain ARs. Glock 26, 43, 48, Shields, Compacts...all there. One of the perks of living in an anti-gun state I guess. Lots of shotguns but no 18 inch, levers and bolts a plenty. Rifle ammo shelves are full.

Only 9mm ammo there was 115gr Blazer Brass FMJ, looks like they just got a shipment, at $13 for a box of 50.

Lots of .40, some .45 and some .38/.357/.44.
