Clean the chamber. 22LRs are dirty and have a nasty habit of building up a nice hard layer of carbon/crud in the chamber and the usual .22 bore brushes and bore snakes don't get it out well. They just leave you with a shiny layer of crud.I was having FTE problems, bolt catching the round on the way out, pinching it.
Once you get crud build up the case doesn't get blown out like it should so the bolt doesn't move back with the velocity it should and you see ejection issues.
I use a .243 bore brush on a piece of cleaning rod chucked in a drill motor to reach in thru the back. JUST going into the chamber, not down the bore. You can feel when you enter the barrel throat, stop there. The spinning brush (and your favorite powder solvent) will get the crud out and Brownells has brass cored brushes so you aren't going to damage anything. .243/.25 Rifle, per 3 : "SPECIAL LINE"
It's surprising how much crud you'll get out of a "clean" chamber if you go in with a bigger rotating brush.
