Volunteering for church security

One of the reasons I stopped teaching college courses was that
they found out I was an ex-LEO and I still carried. They started
insisting that I be a campus marshall.

I turned in my LEO cert in '77. Ever since, I carried a .45 to church.
Some friends found out and laughed at me. Thought I was silly.

They aren't laughing now.

The current Ohio Attorney General, is a 50 year friend of mine. We were talking about CCW in public places, when he says a 45 is too big to conceal! I said I would carry a 45 in church next week, see if you can spot it!

I used a belly band and a loose pull-over sweater. He sat next to me for th whole service, we walked to a classroom to reveal my gun. I had a Sure-Fire flashlight at 7 o'clock. he thought was the muzzel sticking below my sweater. In a classroom I just pulled the sweater up: On my left belly a Sig 220 and spare mag, for right belly a Sig 245 and mag, for IWB 3 o'clock a Para-Ord. 3.25, with spare mag and at small of the back a Sig 220 and spare mag. Not 1 hidden 45's but 4! and Sigs are a little bulky!

Wardrobe and location!

In 2001 I renewed my CHL. At the range qual I was hammering
away with my Commander.
Instructor asked why I was "Disadvantaging" myself with such
a monster I wouldn't be able to conceal.
I told him I had been carrying it for 30 years, including in his
classroom and he didn't spot it.
By then it had saved my life twice (3 times now).

Practicing Catholic here, I carry every time in church. Never know where & when something will happen. After a church shooting on the news they all say "I never thought it would happen here". Larry

Larry, I can't say "like" in any way about needing armed security in our churches, but I agree and give you an AT-A-BOY!

That would have been hilarious to see!

The last place you would think you would need it is the place where you will need it. I don't know why, but the two places I feel most venerable if I'm not carrying is the supermarket and the movie theater. Nothing special has happened around any of those places near me and nothing has happened to me in those places. Maybe that's why. Federal Court was the third place. They did not allow police officers who were there as witnesses to carry and you had to turn your gun in at the door. There were a lot of armed marshals around but it would give me a little naked feeling not having my own.

Obtained my New Jersey carry permit after the Bruen decision and I carry concealed at my House of Worship with permission and thanks from the Board of Directors.

Made the following deal with myself: In return for the awesome privilege and responsibility I have been granted, and for which I am proud and grateful, I am resolved to stand my ground and defend the congregation come what may.

I feel prepared and ready — But it is my fervent prayer and desire that neither my skill nor mettle is ever tested under fire.

Now a days it's not a want but a need to carry when at church.
I'm not the only one that does and even Pastor has one in the small of his back. The story always goes ... "never thought it would happen here! " Being prepared is a no brainer.

I gone through the background check. They are trying to get me in as fast as they can. Sadly for reasons
