Went to pull the trigger and buy a strikefire red dot for my m&p sport then ran into the strikefire II. So im not buying the origional just yet. Any of you guys have more info on this? I cant really find any demo videos to explain new function, but from the pictures on vortex's website, the NV button is either relocated or removed, and the on/off buttom is also relocated or incorporated into the brightness buttons. Anyone with more info on this? Thanks

Available Spring 2014 if your not in a hurry keep an eye on Palmetto State Armory site they run $50 off Vortex products through the year. Got my Sparc for $149 and saw the Strikefire for $119 just a few weeks ago. Might have to wait for a holiday for the discounts.

I know. I want to see what the new features are on the second gen before i buy the older one

Lots of owners complained how easily the on/off button could be activated w/gen 1.

Activated while inside the case resulting in dead batteries at the range.

I'm sure any upgrades to the SF will be positive ones. I own a gen 1 and no complaints.

I rotated the tube inside the scope rings placing my on/off buttons on the bottom so it couldn't be activated accidently.

And, I really, really like the green dot option.

Using the compare option looks like is a half inch shorter and a free other differences.

I also have the gen 1 and no problems here either. Its never come on or off when I didn't want it to. Also after purchasing found out I have a slight astigmatism my dot looks like a star burst only to me. Other people look and think I'm crazy. Anyway with Amber shooting glasses and the green dot option it goes back to a dot for me. Just something to consider.

My gen 1 measures right up there w/Aimpoint's Pro except my SF is on the 15/22, the Pro on my 'T' so I can't comment on the recoil factor.

Unless you have NV, the Pro's first 5 clicks of the brightness adjustment knob are invisible, leaving 5 clicks of adjustment for the naked eye.

The SF has a dedicated NV mode, so there are 10 brightness adjustments for the naked eye. Maybe the Gen 2 has more? (not that it's needed)

New shooter and I love my Gen I Vortex. Clusters much closer at 25 yards than w/ mounted factory sights.

I would wait for the strike fire 2 if I were you. Having the controls
rearward facing will be MUCH better. The ones with the side controls are to easy to accidentally turn on.
