VZ Grips to offer new N Frame series

Anybody who has one of these care to give a report on the finger groove size? Small/Medium/Large?

Boy, that is a bit subjective. I have large hands (can palm a basketball) and the groove size fits mine very well. A little deeper than the combats on my 627-0 or my Ahrends retro-combats. Don't know if that helps.

Also, I really like the speed-loader cut-out on the left side...it makes for a perfectly comfortable and natural shooting grip where my right thumb stays clear of the cylinder latch. On my shorty .41 mag, that makes a difference.

G10's available. So, I grabbed a set of the 'black/gray' Tactical Diamonds. These will do for my 4" 610.

Those grips look amazing on your .41 Magnum. I'm thinking about additional sets for other N-frames. The black cherry would look great on a Centennial J-frame, with a matching set for my 3" 610 Lew Horton.

I really like them, and the revolver handles well. Feels better than the Hogue rubbers I tried as well. The round butt grips conceal well, and the smooth finish doesn't let covering garments get hung up...they drape naturally.

I have had my 320-smooth-black for about a month.They are on a 629-6 PC with 2 5/8 in. bbl.I am very pleased with them and the fit,for me,is perfect.The black matches my belt and holster.

My hands are large as well and these grips fit me just fine - normally I don't care for finger grooves and my fingers feel squished together - not with these VZs. They feel very nice and as mentioned elsewhere, the material doesn't grab like the rubber did on my clothing. So far I like them.

I've been waiting since Labor Day for these grips, and they finally arrived on Saturday. VZ had such an overwhelming response, that they had to go back into production to make more. Hence, the wait. But it was worth-it to acquire the color and style I wanted. Here's how they look on my 610.

These are just as good as VZ's 1911's.

I'm digging those grips! emailed VZ last week and they said the Nframe grips were going to be back in stock soon. However, I must say I'm intimidated by the heavy checkering on the tactical diamonds

I only shoot single handed, and the factory grips do their job very well. I'd have to try out a pair before I committed to buying. I fear that they may be just an affectation, and $79.00 is too much for a fashion statement and a sore palm

I can understand your reluctance to buy them. However, the checkering on the tacticals really ins't all that abrasive to me, and give a good purchase on the weapon. I wouldn't classify these in the same 'ballpark' as Simonich grips. Yet, it's a subjective call. There's always the 'option' of buying the 320s, which are essentially smooth. Anyway, all the best.

If the points are too sharp you can probably strike (blunt) them with 600 or 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper to take some "bite" off of them. But you may not need checkered grips, if something other than a plain smooth surface will do. I've worked with Micarta a lot, and while G10 is a harder material to cut, it can be sanded without too much difficulty.

G10 is a material Like Micarta( made from layers of paper, cloth linen, canvas, carbon fiber, etc. that been bonded together using phenolic resins under heat and pressure), except the bonded layers of G10 are synthetic and usually fiberglass. When you sand either one, you'll want to either be out in the open air and/or wearing a dust mask

Both Micarta and G10, depending on the texture of the layer material, they can be between corn cob rough to smooth as glass.

It looks like the grips without the checkering has the a texturing from the material weave.

What does the un-checkered part of the grip feel like?

Interesting. The smooth ones are beautiful, but a couple of those with checkering do strange things to my eyeballs. I am not sure what the illusion, but maybe the checkering going one way and the wood grain going the other way has my eyeballs twitching. I could be wrong since I am incapable staring at them long enough to figure it out.

Just got the 320s for my Mountain Revolver. They are a lot heavier
than I expected. The fit is perfect especially to the backstrap. Not so
tight I can't get them off like Herretts. Where the halves meet in front
they are a little sharp but a touch of sandpaper cured that. I don't expect
to use these all the time. 500 grips for the range and Herretts to look good.
These will be for bumming in the woods or concealed carry.
The harsh side lighting shows the texture of the fiberglass layers.
And yeah, the smudges above the ports are lead I choose not to scrub
off to keep the finish intact. See the thread(s) about porting revolvers.
