Wallops island rocket

I live in south east Delaware. We are close and was out side watching the rocket but never saw it in the sky but felt the ground shake. Omg

I heard all the firemen were called in. The hole island is on fire with rocket fuel. I hope those guys have they mask on. I was around Manhattan on 9-11. The smell and the jet fuel is not good. We put our ac on tonight and closed all the windows. God bless all the helpers there tonight

Seems there were doubts about this machine. Orbital were already looking for another booster.

Looking back.....

Anyone remember the Vanguards?

Looking back, our early efforts are downright comical. I've seen some documentaries on these disasters and find them entertaining. At least no people were hurt in rockets early on. I think my favorite was the answer to Sputnik that had a teeny little satellite in the nose cone. When the rocket exploded and collapsed the 'satellite' rolled to the edge of the launch pad beeping away.

Well, I work out there at Wallops (Navy), but not today, base is closed for obvious reasons...
