Was browsing through Walmart today to get some stuff for baking, milk, etc, made a usual pass through the ammo department, or what's left of it and low and behold, sitting on the shelf were 8 boxes Winchester 300 grain jacketed hollow point 45-70. Oh, the price you ask????? 11.99 a box, obviously a miss print but the guy took them out of the case and sold em to me at that price.

That is some score. It was possibly old stock found on the storeroom shelf and they just put it in the case with the old price. Yep, some score!

I met a guy in our local Fleet Farm a few days ago who was desperately looking for 45-70. Iowa apparently only allows rifle hunting with straight wall cases. This kind of problem is why Dillon is selling presses as fast as they can. Might be some reloading bargains later on.

That's why the new AR load was created, the 350 Legend.

That's a pretty good price on 45-70 ammo. Not the best 45-70 deal from Wally's though. My local store closed out their two Henry 45-70's for 299.00 each. Don't know what models they were but it doesn't really matter at that price. Two or three years ago that same store decided not to carry evil Mini 14's or mini 30's so they were closed out at that same price. Both times I missed these sales by a couple of days. The Henry's both sold the day before payday and half the guys in the store wanted to buy them.

I think you should be arrested.

Haven't seen any center fire ammo at our local wally world in months.Did find the top shelf full of 330 round of Federal auto comp at 18.99 a box. So got three boxes,if the wife was there we would have bought 6 boxes. Frank

The Wally World in my town recently pulled all of their guns and ammo off of the shelves and stopped selling these items. I now have no reason to enter their store and will spend my money elsewhere….

Walmart here in town has, had about 10 boxes of Winchester 308's sitting there for the taking for the last couple weeks.
Same with the 350 legend, just sitting there.
Otherwise no ammo, except for a few shot gun shells.
Haven't seen any 22 LR ammo for over a year now at WM.
I have not fired many 22's this year because of the shortages.. Even though I am not out of ammo, I just hate to use what I have and not have any way to get more.

I'm thinking the same thing as this particular Wally hasn't had ammo on the shelf for well over a year then suddenly it has some on clearance?? Has to be stuff they just found in the warehouse.

I went to an estate sale this morning, wasn't planned, but I was up in Williamsburg going to get one of our health care facility's ready for a Medicare/Medicade/State inspection, saw a sign said estate sale and I followed it. I found some old oil cans I didn't have, an old victorian desk my wife will love when she see's it, I asked the guy if he had weapons or accessories to which he said he had 2 cases of 45 GAP ammo, which we finally settled on a price of 10 bucks a box cash. I don't have a 45GAP, but I got online and asked a few people I knew who were looking for it and soon had a buyer for it all, at 10 bucks a box, guy just picked it up from me at the Pierce's Pit BBQ parking lot, conveniently giving me an excuse to eat BBQ, and bring home a huge 40lb take home meat filled tray along with the chicken gumbo the wife loves more than me.

Smart man. You know how to keep out of trouble with the Wife!

Their pharmacy sells my meds significantly cheaper that my insurance allows, so I buy it without declaring insurance.

They sell bread, milk and beer cheaper that any of the local grocery chains.

They sell batteries, paint and other things I need to buy cheaper than.....yada, yada.

YUP, we all love to hate wallyworld. I hate them too. But, I'm retired on SS and i can't afford to waste money just to make a statement.

My LGS has a good supply of 22lr but they want $59.99 for a 300 pack of Winchester 100 year anniversary ammo. It is not moving off their shelf. Another shop in a neighboring village has 22lr for $9.99 per box of 50 and it is not moving either. A third gun shop I visited several months ago was selling a box of 100 22lr for $9.99 and they still do that today. This ammo is selling fast.

That sounds like a pricing error to me............. Winchester 45-70 is currently @ $43 a box here, was @ $36 until there was a price increase a few weeks ago. Sometimes people screw up when programing prices in, especially if there is something that isn't normally stocked at a certain location. And sometimes an older price gets entered by mistake.

You got a heck of a deal at that price. I've seen it happen before and unless someone in management catches it the stuff goes out the door at whatever mis-marked price they put in the computer.

desi, I'm assuming it's simply clearance to get it out, but this wally does have a tendency to have misprinted prices. Few weeks back, while looking at pork I came across those whole huge chickens, non gmo and organic in those green bags, normally at the commissary on base these sell for 9 bucks to 14 bucks depending on size, these were marked $4.44 unfortunately some old bat filled her cart with em before I could fill my cart with em.

At that price I would have to buy it and then buy a rifle to shoot it.
