WalMart 6 box ammo limit?

Our Walmart also dropped guns a couple of years ago -- but put them back in last week. As for ammo, they rationed it back during the ammo shortage but are now back to, "How many you want?" Seems that during the shortage an employee was tipping off a couple of buddies whenever a truck came in overnight. Next morning, the buddies would come in first thing, buy cases, and resell it at inflated prices in their own shop.

The Walmarts by me limit customers to (2) boxes of ammo, period.
So, you can pick a box of 9mm and a box of .22.....or, (2) boxes of .22.

WalMart

Their policy must vary store-to-store. Our locals have had a 6 box max policy for several years. Here they almost never have .45 ACP in stock, but always have plenty of .22.

Super Wally World in Beaver Dam Wisconsin quit stocking the 250 pack of .40 UMC. A couple weeks ago they got their long guns back. I haven't hit a limit on ammo, but I normally don't buy 6 boxes of anything. Maybe 2 500 packs of .22.

No limit at my local. Or as far as I can tell. Bought 20 fifty round boxes of Fed. Lightings.
They were on sale.

My Walmart, in a small town in a rural county is lucky to have six boxes total of all calibers. They don't carry guns and keep very little ammo in stock. About the only thing you can count on them maybe having is a couple of boxes of 22RF, sometimes a box of 9mm and maybe 40S&W. What is amazing is that dove, duck and goose hunting is big here and the store seldom stocks more than a box or two of shotgun shells

Hardly anyone bothers buying any ammo from them because they usually don't have any to sell. I guess the manager likes it that way.

Of course the towns one tiny gunshop doesn't have much in the way of ammo either. I think he keeps the place open as a tax write off, because he seldom has more that eight or ten guns of all kinds in the whole store, and doesn't want to be bothered special ordering anything, or acting as the FFL for something bought off gun broker. If you want anything related to guns you have to drive about 50 miles to Corpus.

Some of you younger guys might not remember, but at one time Wally was the biggest Retailer of guns in the US. Same with ammo.
Then the PC Washington crowd jumped on them, and sent the ATF after them. Arrested some of their $10.00 dollar help etc.
Wally caved into them.
My local Wally still carries a pretty good selection of ammo, but no guns. I was looking over their .22 ammo the other day and was suprised to see so many Shorts. I have not shot a Short in many years! They had many brands, etc.
They also had some longs. Again I have not shot any of these in years.
Just kinda suprised me, so a bought a box each. The shorts I got are rat shot. Didn't even know they still made them!

It makes me sleep better knowing if Ben and his friends attack I have the prefect ammo!!!

Months ago, while scouring the net for the best deal on ammo that I could find, in bulk or not, I came across an article quoting Wal-Mart representatives as saying that about two thirds of their stores carry guns and/or ammo. They also said that it was solely based on local demographics, meaning that it the stuff doesn't sell then they don't stock it. Seems to work along those lines in my state, for example in Seattle or Bellevue they don't usually carry either item. In Federal Way they carry ammo but no guns while in Super Centers in Auburn and Puyallup carry both presumably because they are both closer to the countrysides?

Anyway, I hope is has nothing to do with caving in to politics or the FEDs because those issues seem to continually erode our collective rights and privileges.

For the last year it has been hit or miss if the sales clerk limits me to six boxes. so around Philly, I'm seeing the same limit as others.

Our three Wal-marts here all sell Ammo, but only one store has limit, cause according to the Dept. Manager someone came in and bought out entire stock of cal., so he being a shooter didn't think that was fair to others that wanted to go shooting.

I have to say at first I didn't like the 2 box limit, and I still am not a fan. But the other side of it is for a year now I can count on getting some ammo there where as before I went in every other day and would rarely see any on the shelves. Plus, if I'm just plinking I can get, say, 2 boxes of fed 525, and 2 boxes of cci's and so forth. But that's just here, not sure about others. Oh, and we had the problem of employees telling the friends when it came in so probably has something to do with it.

the wally world's around here all carry ammo, firearms, and hunting gear, but it varies from store to store, but then I have like 8 stores in 30 minute drive.

Most Walmart stores in CA used to only allow 6 boxes per transaction. However, about a year ago they removed this from most of the stores. The only time I pick up more than 6 boxes at a time is when I get CCI Mini Mags for $6 each, or Federal 9mm FMJ for $10 each.

All CA stores no longer (and haven't for years) sell any long guns.

They dropped guns so they could sell more al-k-hall, more money in it. B2

Walmart dropped guns because ATF required that gun managers have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. My local super center has a manager that has a certificate of completion for the 8th grade.

I went back again today to see if any .45 cal came in...

and this was just put up in past couple since my last large purchase

I asked lady behind the counter when it was put it...

she told me it was a "State Law"

I told her, "oh really.... so I can't go anywhere and buy more than 6 boxes in this State huh??? who's the MOD right now?"

it wasn't the same Manager I talked to the other night but told him what she said.

Walked out with another 12 boxes of Winchester 9mm and 2 boxes of 44 mag.

I am the only customer that buys them, if it's 6 today, 6 tomorrow and 6 the next if they really enforce it.

but they don't carry 22LR.. would be nice

I think its depending on the store management really my wife is a Walmart manager and has never heard of the limit, just to test it I bought more than 6 boxes yesterday and no problems???Different managers will say different things though:confused:

Here the supercenter is the only walyworld that cary's guns and no limet on ammo. And thay sale bear&wine and also have a liqure store
