WalMart Version of 15-22

The other day I bought a S&W M&P 15-22 at a local gun dealer in San Antonio. I paid $559.89 before taxes. Today I see the same gun at Walmart for $427.
I feel like I was ripped off.
Is the gun at walmart different in any way?
The clerk did not know.
I understand that walmart does get some products specially made for them and that's why they can sell them for less.

At some point in life, we all get "ripped off". I bought my 1522 shortly after they came out. I paid MSRP at that time.( the first time I had done that in decades) Mainly because it was an impulse purchase. The only way you can say you got "ripped off" is if the gun you bought will not function and cannot be fixed to function the way it was intended to function. Take your 15522 out and shoot it. Its a fun gun to have. You may have paid more than other people have, but get over it and have some fun.

Ok, help me out here. What is MOE and FDE?
I know I do not have the Performance Center model. It is not stamped with those words.
My receipt does not state the SKU#. I will call the dealer today to verify what I purchased.

This is a black MOE.. Ron

It's on the box the rifle came in!

Walmart n guns, Ours no longer sells them last time I was in there but that was a year ago. They used to have a Beretta looked just like the ones at the local shop but missing a few features like magazine cut off.

Walmart can go to the MFG and say we want this we will pay this and they make X for Z$ and thats it. Might be some differances but I cant see one to look at it for sure.

Wife has the Pink cost me 500$ shipped in to local FFL
I have the black MOE cost me 475$ for that one.

Awesome guns fun to shoot got 11 spare mags and we have a RIOT! Just get you one it saves on 223 ammo that is for sure.

MOE is-Magpul Original Equipment. FDE is-Flat Dark Earth. The color of the furniture on the rifle. Furniture being the buttstock, grip, rail accessories. I have pics of mine posted in the forum. I'm on my cell posting so I cannot post a pic at the moment. The FDE or black MOE version of the 15-22 comes with Magpul furniture, MBUS-Magpul Backup Sights, MOE grip, rail ladder grips And a matching FDE color magazine for FDE version.

Dang it, I got the moe, and it did not come with.the ladder.things! Jipped!

Pretend you paid $100 more for your rifle than your next door neighbor did for the exact same model. Gee...boy....did you get ripped off! LOL!!!!!! But wait!

You go to the range every other weekend to shoot (I know some of you go much more often than that). In 2 years, at $2 per range trip, you have amortized that "ripped off" feeling to $zero. $2 per range visit.....let me see, one range I can go to is $7 to shoot (county range), another range is $50 per year (club I belong to), another nearby by range is $X per hour (don't go to that one). $2 extra spent during the first 2 years....how much gas is a round trip to the range?

How much ammo do you shoot per range visit? (I read in one thread some of you kill one or more bulk packs per visit.)

In the grand scheme of things, that $2 per visit for the first two years isn't squat compared to all of the $$ you will spend over time you own and shoot that rifle. :D In my opinion, you didn't get ripped off.

I failed to mention that the rifle was $450 last week at the same store I bought it at.

I agree with Arizona.

You might have paid a bit less... but as long as you got the rifle you wanted that's what counts. The only time I feel regret is when I get a great deal on something that really wasn't what I wanted.

Looks like suggested retail for that rifle is $519. I guess this time one could say you got ripped off, slightly. However, it's our job as consumers to know what we are buying and we are accountable for making wise decisions. Therefore, the blame lies with us when we make poor decisions or uniformed decisions, etc. Everyone here, I'm sure, has been where you are. Either take the rifle back and politely talk to the owner about it in person(they may have made a mistake), or let it go and move on. Understanding, that the fault is your own (that's always the hardest part).

Go back to the store and ask them to refund the difference. Most stores (gun or not) will honor a sale price, if you bought it a certain number of days prior to going on sale.

The worst that can happen is they say no. More often than not, however, they give you the money back.

I paid $35,000 for a new Chevy pickup. Did I get ripped off?

1. There are a number of different models, each with different equipment. Totally impossible to know a "good" price without knowing how the one I bought was equipped and compared to the others. You need to do your homework in advance to understand the various models and their differences.

2. If I willingly agreed to pay the price, by definition I was not "ripped off" because *I* agreed to pay that amount of money for what was being offered - nobody forced me. It makes no difference if the price goes up or down later - I agreed that the price was fair at the time. Being "ripped off" means cheated, i.e. you were sold a used or knowingly defective product that was represented as new. In our thankfully free country, if you don't like the asking price for an optional purchase, you vote with your dollar. But if you do agree to pay, you and only you are responsible for the outcome. Many people don't seem to understand this.

Research, research, research!

With the interweb it's pretty easy.

that's if you got the time and a good connection, i have a pretty slow internet connection, but most of all got a bunch of kids over for the summer this week and just don't have the time to find the parts numbered list and exploded view, so if anybody can help me out, it would be much appreciated, thanks.

I have had my 15-22 for about a year now. I got interested in them after doing some homework on them for a friend, and having some troubles with a CMMG conversion unit in my AR. Due to demand and lack of availability the price was up in my area. I "paid too much", but I like it a lot, shoot it a lot, and as far as I'm concerned, get my money's worth out of it. A slightly delayed happy childhood offsets the momentary pain quite nicely.

Not to mention I have done enough deals on guns and other stuff in my time that were considerably worse--paid way too much for things that turned out to be aggravating lemons, and chalked it up to "experience".

I find that things with "S&W" printed on the side tend to be better in that regard. I periodically have to rediscover that.
