Nah, I'm not really all that serious ... but it would be a fun gun!
I'd like to see them make it with tighter tolerances, though. Some of the early wartime models were excellent shooters, delivering 2" groups at 25 yards from a benchrest. Most of them shoot 4" or 5" groups, though.
Knew a guy in the late 1970s that had a very accurate P-38, made in 1940. My own was made by Walther in 1943. He'd shoot rings around me, with the same ammo!
It was obvious that his was fitted tighter. Probably tweaked at the factory for some general -- the kind of guy who'd never fire it in anger but use it to impress his fellow officers with his marksmanship.
The P-38 remains a very good design. Double-action pull is rather heavy, but you get used to it for snap shooting. Reliability is excellent. Takedown is a dream.
Love to have one in stainless steel, though, with a micrometer adjustable rear sight! Kinda hard to do, since the rear sight also holds the plunger and its spring in place. But hey, perhaps it could be slightly redesigned.
At the least, make the front sight fully adjustable -- up and down, side to side -- for accurate sighting in.
There's a reason the P-38 was used by the German Army into the 1970s. It's good!
