I am considering changing the sights on my 9mm Shield which is my CCW. Nothing wrong with the stock sights, just want to try other sights) and I am choosing between the TruGlo TFO and Meprolights.

I have the Meprolights on my Glock pistol and it works just fine with me although its just mainly for dark conditions.

I read that the TFO by TruGlo shines too during the day but my concern is the user comments I read about the pipe/tube getting loose and gets lost. Though it sure looks good in the Shield, with the short 90 day warranty that the manufacturer offers I am having second thoughts.

Any suggestions? By the way I mainly shoot indoors, once in a while outdoor where the range is a good 20 miles drive :)

First I've heard of that. I have a set on a G19, but admittedly I've not shot it much with them on. Not good to hear :(

I have the TFOs on my compact .40 and they are great for all light conditions. From what I understand, Truglo has corrected the "flying tube" issue. I've put about 2500 rounds through my pistol since installation and the sights are solid as ever. The recoil of a compact .40 hasn't phased them at all.

That's good. About how long back was this a prob? I've had mine at least close to 5 yrs.

Not sure. Only had mine for about 6 months. If yours are hanging in there after 5 years, you're probably okay. The tritium may give up before you lose a rod.

I have about 1500 rounds through my M&P 9fs since adding them and still good as new. Purchased and installed about 3months ago.
