I am looking for your help my fine fellow forumers.

I have read enough threads on this forum to know that there are more than a few of you who are serious fans of the .41 Magnum cartridge, and although I have never fired one, I am nonplussed by the .357 Magnum, but enjoy my .44 Magnum and my .45 Colt +P loads very much, but would also welcome another round with just a little less recoil. So, what I would like is that perfect compromise between power and slow pulse manageable recoil, which brings me to the .41 Magnum.

I already have 4 Ruger Redhawks, one in .44 Magnum and three in .45 Colt. I appreciate the bulky heft of the Redhawks for these very large hot loads, but I would like a round with some oomph, but in a smaller lighter revolver....enter the S&W 657 (or 57 or 58) with a 4" to 5" barrel. Keep in mind that I am in Canada, with rather restrictive laws, which implies some severe limitations.

I would be very grateful if all of you could look in your safes to see whether there would be a 657 (or 57 or 58) with a nominal 4" barrel (that actually measures at least 4.154 inches), or with a 5 inch barrel, that you would be willing to help out a gun brother with. Alternatively, perhaps you would be so kind as to keep me in mind as you tour various gun shows and gun shops, and you find that rare gem that I am looking for.

I do not need a pristine collector's specimen, I just want a good 'shooter', or I would even settle for a 'project' gun, especially if I am forced to cut a longer barrel to achieve my goal of a shorter barrel. There is very little hope of my finding what I am looking for here in Canada. In fact, since one of my contacts recently found a 4 inch model 657, that actually had the slightly longer barrel from the factory, I think I will have to wait another 50 years before it happens again.

Thanks for taking the time to read my story.
