Wanting a new (to me) 357, which is the best buy?

Where I am, the 19 is the "best buy" I rekon.

Found a blue 4" 19-3 without the box/docs for $400 so I'll be going that direction. Thanks for the help guys!

Good deal!

Closest I've come to a deal that good is a 4" 19-3 I bought in a pawn shop last March for $420 OTD. Original stocks, and some bluing wear. Pretty decent condition overall. In the same pawn shop last week I saw a 4" 19-3 with some rusting, pitting, and more finish wear for $450.

As much as I wanted to add it to my collection, I couldn't do it for $450 + tax.

Of the three you mentioned, the 4" model 19 is the least overpriced, if that makes sense.

+1

I would pick the 4" 19 just because I like them better. But I wouldn't pay $650 for it. I passed on a 4" 66 at about that price with box, papers and original target grips, fairly recently. So he might sell it for that. But not to me.

A pre lock 586 is a thing of beauty, but that full lug 6" barrel does tend to weigh a bit. I had one for a long time, so it's from experience I say this.

The 4" 19-3, well now, that's a honey.

If it was a choice between both in 4", then I'd give the nod to the 586 but only with hesitation.

You did the right thing here.

hi,I have both a 686 and a 66 my 2 cents are on the mod19.tuff deciecsion.

The model 19 is def. more of a shoot able weapon. As well as carrying if need be. The 586 is a beast to shoot and feels like it. I've got both a m19 & 686 in 6 in and have to say that the m19 is more enjoyable for prolonged shooting.

As far as pricing, a little over what the market is so if you really don't need it I would wait.

Well, I came in late, but congrats for being patient and finding a deal.

Yes, all those were too high.

For a shooter, IMO, at $600 you're into Model 27/686+ territory. At $700, may as well go a little extra for a 686 or 627 PS, unless the lock turns you off.

Maybe someone pays those absurd prices, cause I see them at the LGS and then they're gone. Completed auctions on GB tell me the online crowd has better sense than our locals.
