A fellow just offered me 12,500 rounds of 22 ammo. 5800 CCI Mini mags (40 gr) 3700 Mini mag HPs and the rest was Winchester 40 gr Dyna point. He wants 4 cents each. Since I have a fair amount of 22 ammo I don't usually buy any. ..Just wondering if the price is fair on the whole lot. I figured on keeping some of the HP stuff and selling the rest. Hoping to re-coup some of the expense. I know the price on 22s has gotten back to reasonable again...but I truly don't know the new reasonable

Seven to eight cents a round on the cheapest stuff, so four cents a round is a great price. Remember, the political wheel turns every so often, and those who did not lay a few rounds aside will be crying in their root beer again.

That is a great price - especially on the 9500 rounds of mini mags. They're still going for 8 cents a round minimum.
The other stuff may not be quite as good of a bargain, but still a good deal at 4 cents apiece.

I suppose the price is fair and a far better deal than anything you could have found just a few short years ago (let's not forget), but I did the math and $500 is $500. That may be a lot to drop all at once for rimfire ammo you may not really need.

HOW MUCH VALUE DO YOU PUT ON YOUR PRINCIPALS?

A former hoarder that made life miserable for many is now stuck with a garage full of ammo, BOO-HOO. :D The highly principled me would say, "no thanks, keep sitting on them". My true self would throw out a lower ball offer & ask "how bad do you want to get rid of them"? YES a good/great price IF they were stored well.

Kinda the way I was thinking on the hoarder...But I am not really certain. I talked to a friend who does gun shows very often. He told me he is having poor luck selling 22s these days at the gun shows for any price over 6 cents each. I am going to do a small local show in a week or so and was going to put some on the table there. But I don't need to spend a whole bunch of money just to get more 22 ammo. He also had a bunch of 22 mag ammo he wanted 12 dollars a box...but I have wayyy more of it than I need. I did purchase 3 Burris handgun scopes from him. 2 new in the box 1 - 2x7...one 3x12 and a 3x12 with Burris rings on it. { know I kinda stole them at 75 bucks each average... But I have a use for them. I also got 2 case tumblers for 15 bucks each. One is full of media and the other is the same with a couple hundred 357 mag brass. Right at this point I am of a mind to pass on the 22 ammo. Maybe use the money to buy a S&W of some sort. I can get a really nice Model 13-2 for less than the price of the 22 ammo. LOL. Hmmmm what to do ...what to do! Well it's Turkey day. Going to do din din with some friends today and decide on the ammo later. Thanks for the replies.

Well I guess times have changed. Prior to 2008 that would have been considered price gouging. I can well remember buying bricks of regular 22 LR for $5.00 before then.

HaHaHaHaHaHa!
2008 was 10 years ago, and Obama was President elect.
To say times have changed is an understatement of epic proportions.

Well I started thinking and called the fellow. Offered him 3.50 a hundred and he said no. So I guess I am going to pass on the ammo and buy the 13-2. 475 for it and it does look new. Hardly has a turn line. Or maybe try to find a nice 15 or 19 at the gun show in Billings this weekend... Black Friday gun show..yippee

Just got an email from Scheels with a flier for Federal Black Friday deal on 22s. 1600 rounds for 59.99 with a 20 dollar rebate on top for a price of 39.99 ...that is less than 2 1/2 cents each. I just ordered 4 boxes. Will pick 'em up Friday so no shipping and no tax in Montana..Gifts for the grandsons and I'll keep one. Good things come to he who waits...or somethin like that

Those who cry about "hoarding" are usually those who didn't have the foresight to stock up appropriately.

Not one person's hoarding affected me in the slightest. I gave bricks to friends who were without, and I still have enough .22 LR to last the rest of my life. Primers and powder, too.

However, at .04 per round for CCI Mini Mags, I'd have sprained my wrist grabbing my wallet.

Sure, we have low prices all over the place these days, but we don't know what's around the bend. The time to stock up on everything is right now.

President Obama inaugurated January 20, 2009. Blame Bush as it was his watch.

OK, I changed my post to say Obama was on his way INTO the White House.

But I think you misinterpreted my statement. I wasn't BLAMING anybody.

I was making a point about how DIFFERENT things were then vs. now in terms of the direction of our country...

Like I said, things have definitely changed.

Bass pro/Cabelas

My brother in Rogers picked me up a 1600 pack of Federal Black pack 22 for 59.95, with a 20 dollar mail in rebate. This was in Rogers, AR. Bass pro.

Up to 5 rebates allowed. Thinking of driving down tomorrow to get 3 or 4 more. It's less than 3 cents per shot.

I don't know about the Winchester but I'd buy all the CCI he had at that (near half) price. It doesn't go bad and there WILL come a day that you have to pay more for lesser quality .22 ammo.
