Every year, we have a weekend where many people have garage sales, and it is listed in the local papers. This year, there were almost 300 on the same weekend. So the wife and I decided to go and see what was out there.
Since we live in Montana, private party gun sales don't require a back ground check, so you're never quite sure what you will see.
Nothing at the first few, but the third stop had me bringing home a no-dash 2" model 60, with 10 boxes of 38 special for $400. The next stop, I found a beat up old Leupold M8-4X, with rings for 20 bucks, that was very finish challenged and blurry, but being a Leupold man, I knew not to pass it up.
Once I got home, I made a warranty request for the Leupold to be repaired, figuring that it would be replaced.
Well, today, Leupold called me and told me that since they no longer make fixed power scopes, they would offer me a few choices as a replacement. I decided that a new, VX-3HD, 4.5-14x50 with a CDL dial would fit on a 308 that I own.
Turned out to be a pretty good day of junk shopping....

Leupold has always honored their warranties. Often going above and beyond for their customers. Good thing to remember when shopping for glass.

I've heard Vortex is good too, but I haven't had to use their customer service for the 2 scopes I have of theirs.

I've only used Leupold scopes. Very good.

Damn, son, I live in western Montana, and never have that kind of luck at yard / garage sales, lol ! Nice haul !

many moons ago I got an UGLY Leupold 10X AO scope for 60-70 bucks at a show. Purple finish missing finish scratches etc etc. I sent it to Leupold to be cleaned/purged. They actually called and said they didn't make the scope any longer so wanted to replace it with a VX II. Told 'em I bought it to put on an old 788 I had...so wanted to keep it. Declined their offer because It was an AO. When they returned the scope the box contained my ol ugly cleaned/purged 10X but also a 3x9X VX II with AO. Still got the old 10-X...still ugly still works great. Grandson has the 3x9 on my old first year R-77 long action 270 given to me by my mother
