Was the S&W M&P 15-22 your gateway to a M&P 15?

As I sit here reminiscing on this subject, I must say that yes the 15-22 is my gateway to either a M&P 15 or a similar "blk". rifle. I recently got back into guns a few years back when I started contemplating about getting something for home defence, then it evolved into self defence, then into sporting or target shooting, so now I have a small collection of hand guns & 1 rifle (the 15-22):D. I have thourghly researched the AR-15 platform and have become obsessed with the multitude of AR platforms that are out there, so I have decided to take my time & save my pennies to build my ultimate AR "blk." rifle. ;). In the mean time I will continue shoot & enjoy my 15-22 :D.

The mp15-22 is my first RIfle, I wanted a 22lr AR-15 this was the closest. I plan on a 5.56 in future not yet 100% If S&W will be the Platform.

For me it was the opposite, I purchased my first AR15 a while ago, then built one from scratch about 2 years ago. Held the M&P 15/22 in my hands and said, Naw, I want an AR15.. After shooting the AR's and using lots of department ammo. Using my own was a slap to the face on how much 5.56 cost. Thus went and got the M&P 15/22 and really am loving it.. so now I keepem in the 10 ring and I have enough moola left to take the little lady to Napa for more wine tasting.. Life is really good..

Well I answered my own question. :o

I researched the construction details of AR's and the effect on the price point. I evaluated what capabilities I wanted v.s. what capabilities I would actually use.

I whittled down the choice within a common price range to three manufacturers. I am now a proud owner of a M&P 15-Sport. :D

S&W's limited lifetime warranty was the deciding factor.

my first AR style rifle was a DPMS AP4 .308, the high cost of the .308 ammo made me want to find a cheaper solution to this. this is how I came about getting the 15-22. :D
