Was there a 4003 ?

Did S&W ever make a 4003, or were they all TSW's ?

It's interesting that the catalog describes the 5946 as having a straight backstrap where that's clearly not the case, according to the illustration.

Right now, I don't own a service sized pistol, seeing no need for one when my compact single and double stack Smiths do what I need getting done. I suppose if I ever go in that direction, I'll pick up a used Beretta 92, since mags are plentiful and there's still factory support for the gun.

That being said, I would dearly love one of the 5904s! Or even an '03. And can I also order maybe a '26 and '46? Or is that too greedy? If only S&W would listen to some of their loyal fans.

Sorry, the .40s do nothing for me. Y'all can have my share.

I realize this thread has been dormant for quite some time but I wanted to let those that may be interested know that I purchased a used Model 4003 today. It is in "Fair" condition but my gunsmith buddy will make it look awesome after he does his magic with his Durakote.
