Well, it wasn't exactly a trade. I sold my Glock 23 to a friend for $400 and decided to stop by a local gunshop on my way home from the deal, where I saw this Model 19 for you guessed it, 400 bucks! Didn't have the cash in my hand for very long at all! I was wondering if I could get a little info on this gun as I am new to this site. The serial # is 7K640XX. There is absolutely no flame cutting whatsoever and the cylinder is as tight as a snare drum. Very little bluing is worn away (on the muzzle)and it has a slight turn line. Did I get a good deal? Any help would be appreciated!

I would say you did good. I would rather have a clean Model 19 to a Glock any day.

It is the only thing i don't like about this forum....
You characters come up with the most incredible deals....
DA*N!!!

Quit trying to make us all feel bad and be happy for once!

Were the tools and papers all in the box?

So long as you are pleased it is a great trade. I was thinking the same thing about the grips, which is not to worry. Now you have a new mission, getting a set of correct grips.

Remember the joy is in the quest.

How can they be diamond stocks if made in '75?
(not original to the firearm?)

Just so you know, those aren't even S&W stocks. They are aftermarket or home made and simply used the S&W emblems. The checkering pattern is all wrong, the diamond is not correct, the relief is too big, and the screw escutcheon isn't correct for diamond targets.

Still, it's a nice gun. Enjoy it! The 19 is a classic, the glock, not so much.

Why would anyone want a Glock?

Oh, that's right, they make excellent trade bait. :)

Even without the box and with the aftermarket stocks, it would have been a good deal.

If you plan to shoot it, you may want to try it as is. Who knows, the stocks may fit your hand just fine. If you're one of those people who just can't live with himself till he gets the correct stocks, it should not be too hard to locate a nice set.

I'm not usually one to pile on when the answers are all running one way, but yeah -- you got an excellent deal. That's one handsome revolver you got, and and as an added bonus you are relieved of the burden of Glock ownership. (Well, that one Glock at any rate; I don't know if you have more.)

Not that I hate Glocks, you understand. I am a big believer in diversity -- except in my gun collection.

Whatever the stocks are they are pretty nice. Good find

Thank you for all the responses. I am a ton happier with the Smith than I ever was with the Glock. I took it out to the range the other day and she shoots like a dream! My 12 year old son wouldn't put it down! (That might be bad!)

I kind of figured the stocks were home made due to the finish on them, but I do like the way they look on the gun. I got the box and papers, but no tools. Oh well. I included a few more pics and a couple of the stocks as well. I will keep these on for now, but I might look for some correct ones in the near future. Now if I could just find a killer deal on a Model 25 4in bbl.............

jaymz - thanks for the additional pictures on the grips and your Dad's 29.
Whoever built the grips did a nice job.

It's cool that your son is interested in shooting. It's a great family activety.
