For Christmas, I wanted a splicing book put out be the Sampson rope company. It was priced at around $20 in one of the sailing catalogues. My wife went looking for it on line and came across a place called "Bailey's" wher she got it for around $14. I just got their catalogue and WOW!! talk about some manly chainsaws and stuff

They are a great source and reference!
There has been talk in the past on some chainsaw forums about restrictions of what they can sell online etc.
Can't remember (not uncommon

) if it was because of manufacturer restrictions over territories or restrictions about across the border or what but be sure to inquire with them.

There's chainsaw forums??????

There sure is a chainsaw forum. I actually used to be an enthusiast, and spent way too much time on arboristsite, a really popular chainsaw forum.

I don't know what all kinds of shipping restrictions you would find at Bailey's, but I'm sure you would see restrictions on the Stihl stuff. Stihl's can be hard to own, unless you have either a really good, smart dealer, or the knowledge to order your own stuff through an authorized dealer who may not be so smart. I know more about Stihl products than any dealer near me.

I've ordered other things through Baileys, though, and can tell you that the service is superb.

When I used to hang out at the forum that I mentioned earlier, I came to wonder just what kind of forums you could find on the net. This because it is mostly a Stihl vs. Husqvarna crowd. Folks there become bothered that you can buy a Husqvarna anywhere, and if a person is so unthinking as to buy one at Home Depot rather than a chainsaw dealer, it is unreasonable for that person to think they should receive service at a dealer. The belief is that chainsaws should only be bought from dealers. Made me wonder if maybe there were vacuum cleaner forums somewhere that believed it wrong to buy vacuum cleaners from Wal-Mart.

I check out some of the stuff on Arborist Site now and then. I've gotten some really good information on problems with saws.

They're just like we are, but their toys are different.

True
icon_biggrin.gif
, but obviously you have never done a search on S & W Forum about chainsaws!

We have a guy here, who has a tremendous amount of posts, something like 15,000 or so!
icon_eek.gif
who has expounded upon chainsaws eloquently, though he does seem to be somewhat brand biased!

Husqvarna will not allow their saws to be sold online. They do sell through the box stores like Lowe's and Home Depot.

Stihl will sell only through a servicing dealer. They will not market through a box store, catalog, or online.

I've been buying from Bailey's for years. Pro grade products at a very reasonable price. Always helpful if you have a question as well.
