We have a 'test case'....

I believe in Texas if there is little chance of recovering your stolen property then deadly force is permitted in some cases.
The property owner was lucky he didn't kill the kid that escaped. had he shot the kid in his back and the kid died then he more than likely would have gone to jail because once a person is fleeing they are no longer a deadly threat to you. You then are actually the aggressor and are probably going to jail.
Personally I believe I will only pull the trigger if my life is in direct danger.
 
From what I read in the post I have NO idea the home owner was in any danger.

Is there something else to read I missed or did you guys see the entire thing?

Was the kid outside, was he in the house, was he in the garage?

There is NOT enough detail to determine the situation.

Let the courts and the investigating agency figure it out.
