Weather Craziness About to Begin

I will gladly trade you some dry weather for your snow. 2 years of drought have left us with no subsurface moisture. Ground has 1/4" cracks in places.

Our BIG coastal snow storms always come in off the ocean from the south, AND, it is ALWAYS very warm on the day before they hit. In the 80's when we got a foot or more, it was 72 degrees the afternoon before. This one is going to be an especially messy one with the thick layer of ice that will be put down tomorrow before the snow! We won't be out of this mess before the week-end, especially considering our limited capacity to deal with snow and ice!

The battery in my 2008 Jeep Wrangler 4 door Unlimited 4X4 Sahara, was the first fatality of the cold! I can't really complain since it lasted almost 6 years old, HOWEVER, I had to replace those "high dollar Bridgestone tires today. I was trying to put it off until after tax time! Fortunately, the spare was brand new so I only had to spring for 3, but it still looked like the national debt,AND, have you bought a battery lately? $155.00 at Auto Zone for a Duralast with a 5 year warranty. As you can tell, I plan on keeping this vehicle for a long time!

Stay safe and stay off the roads! It is the other idiots out there that will get you!

When it gets real cold and the furnace runs constantly try to check the stack temperature. Houses have been set on fire by such. Maybe trip the breaker and let it cool off some.

I forgot to reinforce what other posters have said about checking on the elderly and disabled!, especially in this area where we do don't get much of this weather, Thank God! Many of them don't realize how long they may be "house bound"! I checked on a number today and was glad that I did!

Stay safe!
