Well, it was inevitable, I guess . . .

It sounds like a great opportunity that you are going to like. Good luck with this phase of your life.

It was actually a pretty funny conversation if you were listening on my end when he first called me. He hemmed and hawed around a little bit, what are you doing to keep busy, how's your family doing, etc., and then all of a sudden a light went on over my skull and I said "Oh, you need an investigator, don't you?" Pregnant pause, and then we got to business . . .

I retired from the Army in '95, and my wife asked me what I was going to do. I told her I was going fishing. Then she asked what I was going to do when I got back. I told her it would be hunting season. She told me I misunderstood the situation.

Fast forward to 2010 when I was "offered a retirement package." I asked my wife what she wanted me to do. She told me I could really retire this time.

Two weeks later I went back to work. Almost 7 years later I still put on the uniform, badge, and gun(s), and go to work. They screwed up 18 months ago and put me in charge of my office. My captain's bars are older than most of my officers.

If I get tired of this, I'll keep my PI license and work when I want.
