I guess 34 sailors killed and 171 wounded by three separate attacks from 1357 hours to 1530 hours by rockets, 30mm cannonfire, napalm, torpedoes, and 50 caliber machine guns should just be 'bygones,' especially since the IDF admitted they were wrong and made $3 million in reparations. In 1980 (a mere 13 years later).

Dunno why that struck me, but it immediately popped in my head. Israel getting upset about one hospital getting hit after they've hit all 36 of Gaza's hospitals with missiles and precision bombs, leaving only 17 even partially functioning, seems pretty whiny. Pretty much like the Japanese govt indignation about beheading of a couple of noncombatants.
Morale of the story: Don't build terrorist tunnels and bunkers under hospitals.
Except the IDF has provided limited proof of that. Do we know the IDF doesn't have bunkers under hospitals?
Even remember? Seriously? I think I can safely say that most of us will never forget! I joined the Navy in 1979 and at the time, it was recent history. I served with a lot of guys who were junior sailors in 1967 and nearing the end of their Naval careers in the early '80s that absolutely hated Israel over that supposed case of mistaken identity and subsequent coverup. I also have a friend and retired co-worker that was a bosun mate on the USS America at the time and helped pull the dead and wounded off the helos sent to the Liberty for evacuation. Sailors talk, and he says it was common knowledge amongst the crew that McNamara purposefully recalled the planes that were going to the defense of the Liberty while the attack was still underway.I wonder if Americans can even remember the "Sneak" attack by Israel on the USS Liberty in a attempt to get America into THEIR WAR? Perhaps those veterans, the many killed and wounded are now getting their revenge and justice. Fox news is now the anchor of Neocon war hawks just like Iraq. Will they use a Nuke's on Iran against America wishes. It is in their modus Opraendi. They will cause a major attack against US bases resulting in thousands of US Young troops killed, maimed, slaughtered and world war. Our economy will go into the Pitts. But not before gas prices soar like we have never seen. A new recession. A weaker defense against China. No one is even talking about Taiwan now.
Iran is not Iraq. Iran is 5 times the size in land, a population of almost 100 million vs 7 million in Israel.. A mountainous region that will make a conventional war impossible without the slaughter of American Military.

This is a picture of Israel handiwork. The USS Liberty-They did this once and they will have no problem doing it again.
So basically, they gave us back $3 million of the $3 billion we gave them that year for slaughtering 34 Americans.
