We'd the 18th wife and I at Priority Toyota to get truck inspected when I suddenly couldn't breathe. Normally would do the guy thing and say I'm all right but this was different. Call the rescue squad. The dealership cleared everything out of the way for the ambulance, and I'm on my way to the hospital in the ambulance which was on full hit the pothole mode. In the ER hooked up to basically a vacuum cleaner to clear the lungs. In there about 8 hours then off to CCU. Saturday was on 39th, celebrated with the nurses and the wife with some popsicles. Here I was introduced to the catheter, oh joy. Went to the step down room on Tuesday wher the cat was removed was more joyous than my first RM. eventually the Doctors decided it was prescription drug toxicity, bad interactions. So now removed from most everything as they consult with each other over what I could take. Finally home, had to catc up on Sgt Mike.

I was hurrying because I am not a fast typer and I know there's a time limit. On the 18th we were getting the truck inspected and the 21st was our 39th anniversary. When I woke up, I asked my wife if the truck passed. She called me a moron and said she needed it to follow the ambulance. In January I had a cardiovert to get back in rhythm since the cardiologist said my chest sounded like a bongo solo. That went fine and was given a drug called fleccanide (sp) to help keep the rhythm. That one it appears is the one that eventually set everything off. Fell in love with the food lady since she was the only one not trying to stick me with something, but after 26 chicken salad sandwiches even that got old.

My wife has been taking flecainide for her A-Fib for about 5 years, no problems, so far, knocking on wood.

Drug reactions are nasty. Wife#1 had one while having chemo.

I'm still trying to figure out the bit with the step-down room and the cat.

The step down is a level of care one step below CCU where they begin to determine your needs going forward, meet with PT to determine your ability to do for yourself or if in patient PT is required. They no longer needed to measure output so catheter was removed, thank God. They determined that I was sufficiently recovered to go home with my wonderful wife's assistance. Plus I was 8 days behind on Sgt Mike posts since my phone and I Pad wasn't allowed in the room.

Years ago my cardiologist and (at the time) PCP were experimenting with meds for my blown up heart and my chronic insomnia.

One prescribed me Lisinopril and the other Wellbutrin.

After a week of taking them together I couldn't walk without holding on to something and if I bent over too far or stood up too quickly I would almost black out. At the top of my MyChart med list are those two in red bolded print saying "ixnay".

I had a kidney stone at 18 or 19 years old. Woke up from OR with a catheter. I never even knew what one was, and I sure as heck thought that was a oneway tunnel. My last stone was about 10-15 years ago. They had to put a stent in between my bladder & kidney for about a week. I had drugs. The damned doctor & nurse used a set of mechanical fingers, while I was awake, to shove up there and pull it out. I took two percs walking to the office in the hallway to his office. It was the longest 40 seconds of my life!
Glad you're okay.

so glad your medical team is getting this sorted out... I had a prescription reaction that made my heart stop... glad the wife was next to me kicking me saying that it wasn't funny... she then called 911 and I was resuscitated... had she been on a walk or downstairs doing laundry I would not be here today...

Glad to see you're doing better, but one chicken salad sandwich would have me seeking the sweet relief of death. They gave me one when I went into the hospital after tearing my quadriceps
off my kneecap. Nope, not for me, never. I ate the crackers that it had with it, and finally, 10 hours later, they asked me if I wanted anything from one of the nearby fast food places. I got a ton of BK stuff and the next morning, had surgery.

Unfortunately, when they're trying to get your heart, lungs, and breathing regulated, BK ain't on the menu. I was just glad for something that wasn't accompanied by someone with a needle and a test tube.

I am hopeful every anniversary too, but she keeps signing up for another year and I never get that divorce.Hope you stay well now.
