With my camera that is. My eight year old grandson and I went eagle hunting with a camera to earn a badge as he is a cub scout. Here are some of the pictures. The nest was probably 7ft. or more in diameter and there were two adults and two almost mature chicks.

That is a really cool picture and I'm glad you and your grandson were able to share that experience together. The Bald Eagle is IMHO the most magnificent creatures I have EVER seen in the wild. There are a number of them living along the Susquehana River near the PA/MD border. Sometimes we are lucky enough on the railroad to glimpse them when the sun comes up and we are heading home. Thanks for sharing with us.

Great photos. I was lucky enough to pass through Haynes, AK several years ago at eagle massing time. Astonishing. There were just hundreds of these birds in the air, in the trees, on the sandy banks in the river picking up fish. What an experience.

In southern Orange County and Northern San Diego County we make an occasional Golden Eagle sighting. Those are great birds too, but they just aren't the same as the Bald Eagle.

Congrats on the sighting.

Nice Pics! How tall is the pine tree? I've heard of the bald eagles becoming more prevalent in the southeast.

I would guess that is a Florida Longleaf Pine and it was approximately 70' to 100' tall. I did a little research and that nest could weigh as much as two tons.

Thank you so much for posting that awesome picture. Just last week I was in St Louis and visited the "World Bird Sanctuary" where they had between 10 and 15 bald Eagles. I was in total awe. Some were injured and some weren't. They also had two beautiful golden eagles and several that were very different. Several of their birds were germaine to other countries only. Lots of Owls (my personal favorite) and lots of hawks and falcons. I am fascinated by birds of prey.

Great pics!

I used to work at a gravel plant on the riverbank, and there was a pair of Bald Eagles that nested nearby. We used to look out the window of the office and watch them soaring around the river. Beautiful sight.

Very cool shots!

Somehow the majestic image of the Bald Eagle just doesn't hold up after seeing 20-30 of them dumpster diving in the Burger King parking lot in Ketchikan, Alaska.
