I attended a small show in Kingman Arizona this weekend. Picked up two Colt Frontier Scout .22s and a real nice K-38 five screw. Gotta' love the gun shows.
At the El Paso show this weekend, got a box of 45 ACP FMJ at $40, and a bunch of primers. He had them at $30/1000, but when I bought tow boxes it was just $50. I got two boxes of LP and one of SP. Shoulda bought another box.
Said he gave up on buying a pistol and looked for spam cans of 7.62.54R. First table wanted $135 for a 440 rd can. Second wanted $175 and third table he saw $225. He went back to the first table and they were sold out. I expressed appropriate sympathy and sold him a can for $125.
Couple weeks ago a friend said he was planning on going to a local (Columbus) gun show to try and find some ammo and a couple pistols. I told him to have fun but I'd consider it a waste of my time. Sunday I saw him again and he was exasperated. "Why didn't you warn me how bad show prices are!" he said. Actually I thought I had tried, not my fault if he didn't listen. The shows in Ohio are $6 no parking fee. I always find more things than I can buy at reasonable prices. But there are far more high priced guns and junk. The trick is to look past that stuff and concentrate on what is good. Last show I found a nice pre model 12 for $400 amongst 1000's of high price guns and junk. It's a matter of whether you are going to look for the gems or be overwhelmed by the junk.
I went to the show in Lima, Ohio on Saturday and came out with a BSA Martini Cadet rifle converted to .357 fo $350. I'm VERY happy! Bought 1000 Wolf LR primers for $35, as well.
