I have to be in the right frame of mind to appreciate the musical genius of Zappa. He was to music somewhat like what Curly was to the comedy of the 3 Stooges. They'll never be equaled.

I thought that if there was anyone on this board that would appreciate Frank and the Mothers it would be you Councilor... :)

That'll learn ya for whippin' on my favorite baby seal with a lead filled snowshoe....

Yur Welcome!

Why?.....Why you movin so slow?......Have you seen us?..Uncle Remus.
Insane guitar solo in that one.

Zappa for pres.

D.G.

I guess I will have to get out "Live at the Filmore East" and " Just Another Band from L.A." tomorrow. Does any one know the secret word?

"My Python Boot was too tight", "couldn't get it off last night". I saw Zappa twice in my wonder years, probably 1974 or so at the Paramount in Portland Oregon. He could really play the guitar.

Ther best part of Zappa is that he's kinda the gold standard for weird. When my kids show me stuff to get a rise-it's pretty easy to go back in the dusty recesses and see their rise and raise 'em one of mine! It usually shocks them into silence :D
One time I was in Baton Rouge with my son and some of his friends and were discussing a recently passed Mardi Gras. They were regaling me with stories hoping to shock me, and I replied that I had been there done that, everything short of a human sacrifice. One of them piped up and asked why not with a smirk. I replied that we couldn't find a virgin. Good to shock the youngsters every now and then!!;)

Anybody get into the Fugs? I had just gotten a Fugs CD and had it in the CD player in my car. Both my son and daughter are in college. They were both home from school and I was taking them somewhere. I never play music with them in the car. They were talking about school and their classes and one of them mentioned Ramses the second. The Fugs had a song called Ramses the second. I started the CD, found that song and played it for them. Talk about coincidence. They were to cool to act shocked, but they were amazed. Some times the old man does alright.

I lived in Newport Beach CA while I was going to college. We used to go to Zappa concerts at the Shrine Auditorium in downtown L.A. They were called "freak outs". There was no seating, just the wood floor, huge strobe lights in the corners, it was crazy fun. It cost $2.50 to get in. I'm almost sure I survived.

"Movin' to Montana soon, gonna be a mental toss flycoon"... Uniquely Zappa.

As we're all sitting here reminiscing about Zappa and way back when-are we the same old moss backed old farts that are always grousing about kids these days????????????:D
