I have a friend that has a 629-2 with a 3" barrel. I have the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson and the latest blue book and I can't find out anything about it. It has a non-fluted cylinder and he removed the grips for storage but he thinks they were rubber.

What is it, the "Mountain Gun" the "Magnum Hunter Trail Boss"or something else? He would also like to know what it is worth.

Thank You

Jim R

Not Necessarily

It's a Classic Carry for Lew Horton.

No, it may be a standard S&W model, not a Lew Horton.

I have two, bought in 1989 and 90, that were standard models. They originally came with Pachmayr grips. I had both mine MagnaPorted. I polished them and put Ahrends cocobolo grips on.

Mine are 629-2e. Product Code 103650. Both mine are Serial Number BEE5xxx.

Here are a couple of pics. As bought, and after I customized them a bit.
