Spring part 30. I managed to get it reinstalled in a new model j-frame but not without removing the trigger and a lot of difficulty. (yeah I let it slip out). For future reference, is there a trick or special tool to getting it installed and retentioned?

There is a limited access positioning jig that holds your mouth in just the right position plus two volume text that contains the requisite incantations, oaths and profanities required for #30 spring installation. It is all highly classified and not available to anyone.

Brownell's has an aftermarket kit.;)

Makes you wonder why they went away from pinning the spring in as with the non MIM triggers????
I've only dealt with the MIM spring "Once"
I wouldn't mind have the Incantation needed to do it again.
It's just such a tiny part & nothing holds it but the hand..

Putting the spring in isn't that hard, need two punchs. One needs to be as wide as the slot that the spring goes intoand the other the size of the arm on the hand. Take punch #1 and push the spring up and with punch #2 insert from the other side from where the hand goes. Then take the hand and push punch #2 out and you are done. :D

That is precisely the way I wound up doing it. However that does require the removal of the trigger from the gun and the spring also has a tendancy to slide out of the pocket as you try to tention it. A little pin through the spring loop to hold it in place and a curved pusher and you would be able to reinstall the hand without removing the trigger. Oh well, I guess I learned my lesson to keep the hand in place with my thumb when blasting out the innards with cleaner from now own.
