My Vaquero. 45 Colt + 45 ACP cylinder.

Naw. It's perfect as a .45. Those great knarly barky stags look rather thin. Or at least not fat. BTW. There's a 2ND gen. .357 barrel and cylinder on G.B. right now. In my least favorite barrel length of 5 1/2".
Stags that have that much pretty bark tend to be too fat. but your's look perfect. Thanks for the info, but I'm like you. The 4 3/4" barrel is my favorite. The stags look thin, but are rather comfortable for me.

USFA .45 Colt, Ivories.
The first gutta percha stocks fitted were near serial 73,000 in the early 1880's, well before the smokless powder frame. They were phased in as standard over a number of years. Both GP and hard rubber were available and most folks say the brownish ones are GP. The molded in eagle was gone before serial number 200,000.when (what year, I mean) did Colt start to release the Peacemaker with the Gutta Percha black rubber style grips? Was it before they changed from the Blackpowder style frame to the cross-pin?
