There is a 2017 built used compact 2.0 with night sites for sale that is currently at $1225! Holy smokes! It can’t be that crazy!

It only takes one sucker and then $1225 is the going price. He can always lower the price if nobody bites. Then of course, somebody has a pistol they wanted and you don't.

What are you missing? Apparently not $1225!

On popular auction sites, that is known as a "Spec Price", as is "Speculative". If they get a bite - great. Since it won't sell unless they are really, REALLY lucky then they can claim they lowered the price by XX% and make it seem like a deal. If that doesn't work, then they can claim "It was a $1225 gun, but YOU can get it for...". You get the idea.

It's all about the marketing hype.

I think it may be a 'California thing'(?).
That seller is able/willing to do certain types of sales/transfers IN California. I see many of their pistol auctions get into the 'stupid high' dollar figures... for somewhat common handguns (common to us non-Cali residents).
In this instance, they say they can sell it as a "Private Party Transfer", if you are a CA resident and come to their shop to get it (minus the mags!!!).
I believe it just reflects how hard-up people are to get semi-auto pistols in CA.

What M&Ps are CURRENTLY on the CA roster?

Key words "for sale". See if it actually sells at that price.

Eh just check this forum. There are .22 pistols with an asking price of $1400+ that they paid $200 or less for.

Certainly have seen some crazy prices lately. Makes me wonder if our Third Generation guns are going to keep escalating. Me thinks so. On the other end am shocked to see what milsurps are bringing also.

Someone will get it. During the last AWB I mentioned in the AR15 forum that I wanted to clear out my entire Colt branded 20 and 30 round magazines as I was moving over to E-lander 20/30/40 round AR mags. Hadn't even posted yet and I got a PM offering me $60 bucks for every mag I could sell him. Needless to say I sold him the entire lot and I even took off $10 for the 100 well used of the 20rounders. Ended up being able to buy an entire pallet of Elander 20 round and a pallet of 30 round mags

I saw a Taurus PT145 for over $600 on a site. But I think they included a box of ammo. That's half the price right there.

Wow! The one I posted up last week is also a 2017, night sights, 3 mags, le version. I paid $500 and felt good about it!! I'd gladly sell it for just $1200 LOL.

I bought both of my Shields at $379, these days I think they are worth more than $1225 to me, as replacements may never be available again.

Stupid people who fancy themselves as shrewd businessmen despite possessing less market experience than the average department store clerk often come out of the woodwork during and even after a shortage in attempt to profit from scalping/price-gouging, but showcasing their ineptitude, they don't bother to check what the going rate for the item they intend to sell, they just price their wares arbitrarily based purely on greed. It's basically how a complete fool thinks supply and demand works; "Supply is low and demand is high so I can charge whatever I want and eventually somebody will buy it!" Meanwhile, it will most likely never sell, and if it does, then it's only because a bigger fool bought it without shopping around for a better price first.

This is an example of the behavior I'm speaking of. Last I checked, new M&P 2.0s were going for between $600-$700 depending on the model, and there really wasn't much of a shortage of them either, they were in stock pretty much everywhere I looked. So yeah, it's just a fool who was late to the party when it came to hopping onboard the scalper bandwagon, and like most scalpers has no idea what they're doing, only succeeding under circumstances of extreme desperation or foolishness.

Where can I find extra mags for the Shield Plus for sale. Checked several vendors with no luck. Thanks.
