What are most sought after & scarce/rare 1st-3rd Generation S&W PC semi-auto pistols?

What are most sought after & scarce/rare 1st-3rd Generation S&W Performance Center semi-auto pistols including Product Code numbers?

'.......1ST-3RD Generation S&W......"

The Performance Center did........ not... exist before 1990 so ..... not sure what he's looking for; as all PC guns would have to be from the 3rd Gen era.

I'm sure you meant to say "did not" exist before 1990.

Correct, thank you...................

Bought a few in the 1990s...... 2 Shorty-9s, an SD-9 and a DPA 5906. There was a short period when PC guns were "cheap" around here in the $500-650 range.... used but sill un-fired in their boxes. Wish I'd bought some more at the time; I passed on a Recon-45, a CQB-45 .... and a third Shorty-9. IIRC all were in the $500-600 range.

There was one gun, Jim Rae's 45 "Super Gun", that was made from two model 52s.

It was a one of one custom make and while the Performance Center didn't exist, at the time, Jim Rae later led the Performance Center. Regards, 18DAI

Thank you very much Smith & Wesson Forum members!
Kind regards,

To me, rare is what I don't have yet. Looking for that two tone 952, and a 952-3. Still need a 6" PPC. Need a LNIB 52 no dash, seem to keep getting stuck with examples with shortcomings, to say the least. I think there is a PC 52, don't have it yet. Also having trouble landing a 639. Many others I don't have, but my collection centers on 9mm family and 45 semi autos. I am pretty good on a lot of models considered rare, but these continue to elude.

Lew Horton 5967 less than 500 made...this one is new.

Nobody mentioned the 845, has to be one of the rarest PC guns. On my grail list but getting real expensive.

There were 586 units between the two US variants of the 845. Pretty rare but comparatively there were 17 of the stainless and black 952-2.

I was aware of 435 of the 845 Limited and 151 of the 845 Model of 1998.

To the broader question, 6" PPCs and 6" 952s seem to consistently bring strong money (and you don't see many for sale).

And there are certainly a number of relatively scarce PC models (e.g., Comp-40, stainless .45 CQB, SD 9).

You are correct AFAIK. I have corrected my above post.

Ummmm, 172 of the two tone black with polished side flats 952-2? Where did this info come from? This one doesn't seem accurate— I don't think I've seen a single 5-inch blackened and the 6-inch gun was an Ellett Brothers exclusive and I think there were 16 or 17 of them?

Tell me more about a 5-inch blackened two tone with polished flats? Any pictures?

Sevens:

Correct there were 17 of those not 172. I don't know how my keyboard screwed up both those numbers. Corrected now. But the link well above in my post has what I believe are correct numbers. I didn't post anything about a 5 inch stainless and black 952-2. I have seen pictures of two of the 6 inch stainless and black. Maybe the same one as far as I know. Both NIB. One sold on GB about 2 years ago. One owned by a fellow forum member.

My point in the above post is that the 845 is not all that rare compared to the stainless and black 952-2 of which there were 17. And of course there are a few on the list that are one of one or one of a handful.

The 1076 has gone crazy lately a non box sold for 1800 plus and one is on the auction forum right now for 2500. They start bringing over 2 grand consistently that might pry my Novak's 1076 from my vault. Then I would probably regret it though so just z thought lol

Only 20 of these 1998 P/C 4566 , posted here several times, BUT the 4506 version is a 1 off as far as I know. None of these got approved for duty use.We ordered them with just 4566 or 4506 model numbers no other markings ( other than PC) but we still couldn't sneak them in. That's why a lot of the 4566s are ANIB. Unfortunately the 4506 was shot a lot by its original owner, as new it shot about a foot low, Installed a Novak competition rear and it was dead on. I think someone here owns it , or used to. Wish I would have had one made for the 800 or so they cost at the time.
Im sure there are some other 1 off PC pistols, they will probably surface as years and people pass , hopefully not too many widows and grandchildren get ripped off by knowing neighbors who will gladly take them off their hands..even though they aren't really worth that much....
