What are your thoughts on the BAR sporter?

My BAR in 25-06 is my go to beanfield rifle. I think i paid 969.00 for it a few years ago. Ive never seen on ed less than 500.00 for a very well used examp look e. They are great, if heavy, hunting rifles. Not something i'd want to tote in the mountains all day, but for my flatland 4 wheeler based hunting, its perfect.

While I have no experience with them, anything Browning makes is quality, and the .30-06 is a proven winner. I would buy it, play with it, and if you decide it's not for you, I would think you could still make money at that price

Probably the prettiest semi-autos made.

I would not buy new, as the AR-10 and derivatives seem to bring more bang/buck.

But for $349, if you don't like it, send that pretty rifle down the road.

Many, many years ago I had one in .243, and I loved it. One of my friends liked it so much that he bought one for himself in .30-06. He loved it.

I had one that was Belgium made in 270. It was a special order grade 3 wood, oil finish and Williams peep sights. The guy did not take it when it came in. I got talked into selling it. Big mistake!!!!

Very sweet shooting gun

I've been on many deer and elk hunts in the last several decades and with the exception of a close friend who owned BARs in .270 and .30-06, I've never seen another hunter in the field with a BAR.

The late Bob Hagel, a long-time guide, hunter, and certainly among the best of gunwriters for a long time, mentioned in an article that the BAR was the only semi-auto rifle worth having.
