I was in a gunshop and looking for Smith and Wessons, Colts, .45 Autos, and maybe a 9MM.

I have an almost mint Browning 1968/1969 Hi Power and will not carry it or holster it. It is for range use only. So I have been thinking of the newer Browning Hi Power MKIII.

Also, I am just about wedded to the "M1911" type semi-auto and don't trust aluminum and poly frames. And Glocks are too ugly I don't care how good they work!

I remember Jeff Cooper's thoughts on the CZ's. I had kind of forgotten about them. Anyhow the shop had nothing to look at except a CZ 75B in Stainless and a CZ 75B Compact in poly-coated steel. I suddenly remembered the CZ as Jeff Cooper described them and after handling both decided to buy the "Compact". They are "1911"/"Browning"ish and if it shoots (I hear they do that and stand up well also) I will like it.

I am currently also entertaining the thought of a CZ P-07 or CZ 75B in .40 S&W.

So anybody here got any info. Especially negative?

I owned one of the first CZ 75 pistols that came to Georgia. I paid dearly for that gun. It was fantastic, however holsters were not available for it yet and some guy offered me half again what I paid for it, and it got sold. The only problem I saw with that gun was the finish was like a baked on enamel. It got scratched up by the buyer in short order as he was like a bull in a china shop. It performed very well, I would love to have another.

I have a CZ 75 Compact. It is a all metal gun came W/14 Rnd and 10 Rnd clip. Was wanting the RAMI could not find. I found the Compact and after shooting it i am glad i purchased it. Solid gun shot everything i have put thru it. Found extra clips at MidwayUSA. Easy to field strip.

I've owned more than a couple of the 75's and other than weight they're excellent. Double action Hi Power's.

Superb accuracy and reliability.

I'm a big fan of Czech firearms.

They seem to be the perfect blend of modern design and old world craftsmanship. With about a dozen 1911s and a few dozen revolvers , my CZ-75B-SA in .40 S&W has become my bedside gun.

My $189 Czech-surplus CZ-82 (12-shot 9mm Mak) has impressed me so much it has become one of my most often carried and semi-permanant truck pistol.

I've alway's loved the Browning H.P. and have owned several.I also have owned a full sized CZ75 and now own a CZ 75 compact with the alloy frame and love it.I've never had any problems with the Brownings or CZ's.

One of the best if not the best all steel, hammer fired pistols. Been used and copied by more people than any gun. Maybe not here in the USA but Europe is a pretty big place;)

Outstanding accuracy, As mentioned much like the FN BHP with the internal rails and lower bore axis.

I own several and a CZ Custom from the custom shop.

I prefer the 75D (decoker)
For range shooting the single action or 75B is fine,

I had a compact with the kadet conversion kit to go with it. On the positive side it was a good solid gun...tough as nails. It ate anything I fed it and was as accurate as I could ask for. I had a few thousand rounds down range and it didn't fail one time. On the negative side, it was heavy and as a carry gun, didn't get any lighter as the day went on. If you intend to carry it, a good holster and belt is a must. The reach for the trigger was long when fired in double action and lots of take up when shot in single action. The trigger was gritty when new but shot in nicely. It was too beefy in my hand as well. The double stack mag held fourteen rounds but that made the frame size a little too big for me. Also, the safety was hard to reach but again, that was because of the larger frame. I sold it to help finance a new trap gun.

Another big fan here.

An all steel 75 Compact is one of the only autos I regret selling. I no longer own any SIGs, Berettas, Walthers or H&Ks, but I really like my CZ's.

Excellent 9mm. Alloy frame, decocker, sa/da, 14rd mag, accurate, a natural for me. Very popular in the world.
Plenty light, slim, easy CCW. It's robust and reliable. Can take a lickin'. Mines been wet and dry in the tropics, gone without a proper cleaning for longer than I'd like, but as long as it had to. A good friend.

I'm shocked by the number of CZ lovers over here. I have 4 and the compact is my carry. I spend half my gun forum time here and the other half on the CZ forum. Oh by the way I love them.

I love the basic design and have two variants. They are more accurate than me and the all-steel variant falls into the "brick outhouse" class for build strength.

I have a CZ 75 "Pre-B" that I bought at the Fulda Rod & Gun Club back in 1987. Parkerized, with no import marks, but was all over the map when it came to shooting at 25 yards. Sent the slide back to Bar-Sto for a fitted stainless steel barrel and then my S3 NCOIC (he had been an armorer for the AMU in his previous assignment) replaced the fixed rear sight with an MMC adjustable sight and tweaked the trigger. Great shooter, but I wish I could find some more pre-B magazines.

ChuckS1....your pre B configuration gun can be modified by Agnus Hobdell at CZ Custom so that it will accept B configuration magazines...takes some machining, but you then are able to use many more magazines........I usually get EAS Witness magazines as they seem to be priced a whole lot less than original CZ magazines..Mec-Gars are fabulous and I think are OEM for CZ...could be wrong though.......

I too am a CZ enthusiast...owning 6 of them...

I shoot an SP-01 regularly at the range and for gun games. I prefer the standard, non-decocker version because I can carry it cocked and locked. Accurate and reliable, it feeds just about anything. The only issue I had with mine was the slide not locking back on the last shot until the spring was wore in, unless I used 124 gr. or better ammo. The bulk stuff wouldn't have enough ummph behind it - it would feed and shoot, just not lock the slide back.

I too have a CZ-75 SP-01. I have never had any issues with it. It's well made, reliable, accurate and heavy. I have a holster I got from Israel but it's to heavy for concealed carry. I came with night sights.
Being heavy is not a disadvantage. It allows you to fire rapidly while maintaining accuracy. I love it.

LOL - I just came back from a range shoot where I put about 200 FMJ through my CZ 40 P. If you do not know that model, it is easier to google it to see a good history lesson between CZ & Colt. A gentleman in the lane beside me offered to let me try his Austrian wonder if I would let him try mine CZ. Of course I agreed. A few mags later he handed my CZ back and said cool; shoots and feels better than my Austrian... I have owned a 40 P (40 S&W) for about five years and have never had a hiccup. Very under rated weapons, customer support, etc. The shooting team is world class and offers many aftermarket goodies. As a previous poster said, it shoots far better than I can and just feels so good. Good luck.

A compact was my first also, Rami was the last with several between including the 75B 40 you're thinking about. My favorite seems to be whatever is in my hand at the moment.:) I'm also surprised at the amount of CZ interest here. You might want to check out The Original CZ Forum - Index Good luck with the compact and I'm betting it will not be your last CZ.

Hickok45

If you search Hickok45 cz on youtube, he reviews a lot of them, thinks highly of them and he makes me sick the way he can shoot short barrels. They are very much in demand in the marketplace and if you can get one, I would.
