I have a Lee 3 die set for 32 H&R. I can set it up and get OK reloads. But, I am picky and would like to begin seating and crimping as 2 separate steps. I want to control each step better.

Using both hard cast and XTP bullets, is there a crimp die that you prefer?

I like the Redding Profile Crimp die and use one for .32 H&R. I'm not crazy about their lock rings, but I end up replacing those anyway on most brands depending on whether or not I am using a single stage press or my Dillon 550.

I got a set of 32 ACP Lyman dies that I load all straight wall 32's with. If I had to buy an extra die, it would probably be the Lee Factory Crimp Die. I have a few of these and they make good ammo. They can be sensitive to case length variations, so make sure your different brands of brass are all the same length.

Like Chubbs, I’m using the Redding profile crimp die as a separate step for my 32 reloading. Redding makes taper and roll crimp dies depending on your preference or needs. The roll crimp is best for cast & jacket bullets and the taper is better for plated bullets and 32ACP.

What are shooting the 32 H&R in?

I find that 3 set dies that seat/crimp work fine on any revolver ammo...if you adjust them properly. The problem with them is once adjusted for a certain bullet you have to re-adjust them for a different bullet. It's easier to just seat and crimp in separate operations and use an adjustable crimp die. I have used several different kinds and they all work as advertised. Both Redding and Lee FCD

Adjusting seat/crimp dies is many steps because you're adjusting the seat and crimp at the same time. It's a two step operation. PIA.

I prefer the Lee FCD if the bullet has a cannelure and the cartridge headspaces on the case rim. Any brand taper or profile crimp die if the cartridge headspaces on the case mouth.

Really, any roll crimp die. You can just get a duplicate of the Lee that you're using and remove the seating stem.

Or the aforementioned Redding Profile Crimp Die if you want to go top shelf. That's really the only one that's different. I frequently go to eBay and look for individual crimp dies. Or you can buy new individual dies from just about anybody that sells dies.

My reloading is for an SP101.
