What did you get for Xmas

my greatest gift was the look on my 4 year old grandson's face when he opened the battery operated train set I got him (w/ 18 feet of track, a loading dock, tunnels, etc.) :D

I sorta cheated on my own gift, I had the wife help pay for a set of samber stag grips I got here off the forum... (but she got some VERY nice perfume out of the deal)

It is nice to see that for many of you the most important thing was spending the day with family or receiving family news, or receiving gifts of great sentimental value such as dcxplant's photo album and even paladin's unexpected and generous gift from a friend. I have no family in France. Two brothers followed me to France, my twin died 2007 and the other who lived with me died 2010. I have some English "friends" nearby.

I phoned my one remaining brother in the evening and was pleased to learn that he had been able to take his wife out for lunch. She has incurable cancer and he has heart problems so they rarely get out. I was so happy for them that they had been able to get out Xmas day.

Then my 80 year old French neighbor Roger called to see me to show me the glossy calendar he had received from his youngest daughter who had her first baby earlier this year. The front cover had a wonderful text addressed to papa/papi (dad/grandad) which started by saying, loosely translated, you gave me life and I gave life to your grandson. Each page had photos of the baby with mum and dad, grandad, and other relations. There was even one of me holding the baby. So much thought went into preparing the calendar. Roger was delighted with it. It showed in his face as I turned the pages. I'm sure he will treasure it long after the calendar ends.

Me, I had a bowl of cereal in the morning and a ham sandwich for lunch. I went hunting during the afternoon but saw nothing. Roger took me to a local bar for a drink in the evening and when I got home I couldn't be bothered to cook so I had a large slice of traditional English Xmas cake that I made a few days earlier, with a mug of hot chocolate and went to bed. It was nice to be able share part of the day on the phone with my brother. And Roger's visit was the icing on the cake.

I heard nothing at all from my English "friends".

Christmas Eve we went to my brother's. Saw most of my sibs, my son and his family, and a couple of Shelly's kids. Yesterday, Shelly's daughter's for dinner. My gratitude goes out to the swine who sacrificed so much to feed my family: slow roasted pork, rumaki, and on Xmas day, a big porketta.

Gave the kids books and folding knives. Got a nice, no-nonsense Indiglo Timex from my honey. From the kids, a nice bottle of wine and some homemade pasta.

Stayed home for Christmas. Stayed home Christmas eve. Had all the kids home. Ate dinner. Great having the family together. Other than that, I despise Christmas-the commercialization, the panic buying of gifts, etc. The older I get the less important any of it really is. People are smiling and wishing everyone a blessed season-why can't they be like that all year. Today the switch is flipped off until Black Friday next year when all the madness starts all over again. What all this nonsense has to do with the birth of Christ I don't know-but I've really turned into a grinch. If it were up to me, I'd begin and end the holiday season with Thanksgiving.

19-4 4" blue clean with the box and target grips. Python 4" nickel from 1974 98% !!! Would have liked to get a pre 29 4" for my birth year 11/56 but I still got a few years to find one. Wish me luck. O ya I got to finish the kitchen lots of granite and fixtures.

My best gift was my sons face when he saw the laptop he was not expecting but really wanted. He was also surprised with his first gun, a. Remington 597 .22lr. Both looks were priceless. I love enjoying my Christmases through him.

I got the complete JOY of watching my 3 grandchildren open
presents and play all morning in peace.
My wife gave me a Nikon point and shoot camera so i can take
better pictures now for the forum.

For 33 years I have adored Springfield 03 and 03-A3 rifles. For the last 10 years or so I've thought hard about building a replica 03-A4 sniper rifle. A few weeks ago I saw a very nice one for sale on the Shopper of the Culver Shooting Page. I mentioned it to my wife as something that would be nice to have one day. She got to talking to me about buying it. One thing led to another and I called the gunsmith who had it for sale. We came to a "meeting of the minds" and on Friday of last week, it arrived. I could not be any happier. The test targets shot it is MOA w/ USGI NM 71 and Greek HXP 71 (available from the CMP). Back when my identical-twin brother was alive, he and I ordered eight 400 rd. cans of the Korean PS M-2 as well as 8 cases of Greek HXP from the CMP. I still have five cans of the Korean M-2 left as well as five cases of the Greek HXP, so I figure I'll get to shoot this rifle for at least a few years. . I want to say publicly that my wife is one of the kindest most thoughtful persons I've ever known. She knew that I was having problems shooting iron sights as my eyes have changed. She is the one who pushed me to go ahead and contact the gunsmith. I wouldn't have this rifle if it weren't for her. In fact, there is very little in my life that would be worth having without her. I am very very thankful for her.

Well, mine is a bit more personal, and self-given. I've been looking for a Springfield Armory Range Officer. My local pusher had two, in one week, and I missed them while out of town. On the 19th he called me and told me he was getting one in trade, and would I be interested after they inspected. Sure. He called me Friday P.M., and I picked it up Saturday. Yes, it was used, but it was unfired. The previous owner left it in the box. I remedied that yesterday, and put about 100 rounds through it. One can never have too many 1911's.

We spent Christmas eve and day with family and got to hold my two week old great niece.

Father-in-law got me a year range pass to Williams Gun Sight and brother bought me some tannerite to blow up here at home.

The best part is to spend some time with family which we don't get to do often. It was great fun too to watch my three year old great neice open her presents. She was really taken with atoy dog her aunt bought her and we could hardly get her to open the rest.
