Spent the morning doing chores around the house. My son was around and was a big help.

It was very sunny and 60 here today - perfect shooting weather, so we went to my club this afternoon to do some old school shooting:

A couple of .32s - Colt 1903 & Sauer 1913

A Colt Police Positive Special from the 1920's in .38 Special

A .38/44 Outdoorsman from the 1930s

And my Registered Magnum with a King treatment (sites, & Short Action Cockeyed Hammer)

It was a great afternoon at the range shooting steel plates. I have a few guns that are too nice to shoot, but they really are more like investments to me. I get more pleasure and satisfaction from my shooter grade guns.

I bought a Walther PPS from a coworker a couple of days ago and ran it up to the range earlier today to test it out. It's a surprisingly accurate and fun little gun.

I gave my old Remington pump action .22 a workout.
For good measure I shot 3 magazines worth from a Browning High Power , an Israeli surplus piece that has been to Novak for action work.
And - This being the forum that it is , I am pleased to say that I also practiced rapid fire double action with my S&W m60 no dash , my edc.

Good session.

Shot silenced rifles at 200 yd steel, mostly to check zero, then a few cylinders of .32 Long thru GGF's Hand Ejector. Then back home for the honey-dos.

I shot 4 pigs yesterday evening. These two died close enough together for a photo op. Only thing S&W related was shooting the little one with my 5" 625. The AR is a 5.56 I was shooting a loading bench cleanup mixture of 55gr SPs and Ballistic Tips out of.

I walked out back to the shop and something startled me. I grabbed my .380 Sig conceal carry as 4 armadillos ran from under a table. Nailed the first 2 and the 3rd ran right at me as the 4th ran away from me. Since it was only about 8 to 10 feet away and closing, I hurried the 3rd shot, but still got it. As the 4th went out of sight I squeezed the trigger on it. If I hit it, (and I think I did because of blood trail) it continued out of sight in the brush. Wife drove up about that time wondering what I was shooting at. She figured I was unloading a magazine on a snake, but was surprised by the armadillos. Now we at least know what has been digging up the yard!

Friday night Pistol League. We shoot "Bullseye" but there's a fair amount of shooting the bull too. Today I'm headed to the club to test some light loads in my P210. I just need to make 120 Power Factor for ISSA.

Winchester 490 22 LR and a pre64 M70 22 Hornet. S&W M&P Target 38, M18, K22, M34, 41 and a Kimber Micro 9MM

Nothing was shot today, a bear got close to my dog but he left when he made contact. We'll see when we throw tomahawk steaks on the bbq tomorrow.

I loved hunting bears since 1973, just stalking them is fun. I can stalk them now from a chair with a brewski. Lol

Shot one round from a Colt "Sporter"---an AR-15 by another name. The target was one of our most irksome pests---a wild dog.

The Colt "Sporter" was bought way back---back when Bill Clinton was rattling his saber about "Assault Weapons". I didn't really know what an assault weapon was, but I figured if he was against them I better find out---might be something I needed. Off I went to my local gun store----"Tell me about these "assault weapons"." They took me through it from one end to the other----ended up at the magazine---said it was a 20 round magazine, but it would only hold 5 rounds because it had a spacer in it---said the spacer was held in place by "this rivet right here"----"THIS RIVET RIGHT HERE-----UNDERSTAND?!!!" I understood. Then I found out about 30 round magazines, and got a couple of those. I explained the need for this "assault weapon" to the Boss Lady thus: "If I miss a dog with my other rifle, it's a bolt action----and takes quite a bit more time to chamber another round and the dogs are long gone (except for one time when I came across 14 of them swimming across the river).

A friend asked me to sight in a couple of his Clark 1911 bullseye 45's made in the 70's that had been hiding in the safe for years that he doesn't shoot any more. That was fun. Also another friends model 29 snub nose and a Freedom Arms 44 mag. I hung out shooting for 4 hours and free ammo.

the good old American back yard range ! in some countys it has to exceed 10 acrers to be "legal". any less should have a good backstop and good luck. the local ranges or clubs are usually too crouded. some of my neighbors have moved to Montana or Texas. glad to have served.

Went to the range 5/29 and started off as usual with my S&W 18-2 that I bought new in 1965. 50 rounds of Federal AutoMatch. After that:

Colt 1908 .25 ACP, 50 gr. FMJ over 1.5 gr. AA #2
S&W Bicycle Gun top break, .32 S&W, 77 gr. LRN, 1.5 gr. HP38
S&W Model 60-15, .38 Special, 158 gr. LSWC, 4.4 gr. HP38
SIG X5 Lightweight, 9 mm, 115 gr. FMJ, 6.5 gr. VV 3N37
Colt M1991 A, .45 ACP, 230 gr. Rainier HP, 4.0 gr. VV N310
SIG P938, 9 mm, 115 gr. FMJ, 6.5 gr. VV 3N37
Mossberg 590A1, 12 ga, Fiocchi low recoil 00 buckshot and 1oz. birdshot

All reloads except the rimfire and shotgun. Distance was 50 feet, except the .25 and .32 were at 10 yards.

Had my 79th Birthday on 5/30 and friends and family coming today for a barbecue. All in all, a great weekend!

Range

This weekend I shot my:
-Sig Agx Scorpion 320 Custom Works with Leopold Fde red dot;
-FN 509 Edge with Trijicon RMR 3.25 red dot;
-HK P2000 iron night sights;
-couple mags thru my Glock 42

I went thru about 500 rounds of about 5 different types of 9mm ammo, and about 15 rounds of .380 (just wanted to make sure the 2 boxes Federal punch ammo I bought worked)
Things are loosening up alot for 9 here in CT but still expensive.
The guns all shot flawlessly and with the red dots they are very fast, very accurate.
I would highly recommend any if them
