What do I have?

I have a S&W 32 Short top break auto eject revolver. It is blued and 5 shot. Serial number is 311464. It has the black grips and a square butt. What year was this gun made? It has no dates or anyother info on the sight rib only Smith & Wesson and the companies address.

That should be a .32 Double Action 5rd model. Made between 1909-1919. With that # I would guess closer to 1919.

It should look like this, which is a 5th model with S/N 29918X and shipped from the factory Apr. 1911.

My Dad picked it up from a friend of his. It's in good shape to be 100 years old but the action needs some work.

Nice little gun and one to keep if you got it from Dad. They are not hard to fix but if you're gonna' get it fixed, make sure it's someone that knows Smiths. Just FYI, that's an S&W round butt, that model wasn't made w/the S&W square butt.
