5 screw, strain screw .38 special, sn# 75680, 6.5 inch barrel

can't figure out how to do pics

Round butt or square butt?

With that serial, it would be a .38 M&P, from 1906, and depending on the butt shape you can call it a Model of 1902 or 1905.

Well, the 6 1/2" barrel has me a little bumfuzzled, but that could simply be a matter of me not paying attention----or talking when I should have been listening.

Anyhow, tell me about the screw in the bottom of the gun---right in front of the trigger guard------is there one there?

It's like THE MAN (Mr. ED--"opoefc") said, Model of 1905----I should have known better than to run my mouth before I looked in the book-----and forget about the screw in front of the trigger guard.

there is a screw, it justpurchased this today for$300.00. I thought theprice was fair, I am not a collector, this will be a shooter

I like the long barrel as well, it’s what caught my eye, I understand that a lot of the value disappeared with the polish and refinish. But it wasn’t purchased for that. I was just curious how old it was, for the price and the age I think it’s a beautiful gun. I’ll keep the original grips put away, I think it’ll look good with imitation stag grips.
